Interim commander for a five clinic, 800+ staff ambulatory healthcare organization TJC accredited for ambulatory and behavioral health/ human services. Major responsibilities include oversight of the rollout of the first new EHR in 20 years, training oversight, and strategic communication with horizontal and vertical stakeholders. Oversee four senior VPs (deputy commanders); CMO, CNO, COO and Senior VP for Quality. Overall responsible for the provision of all healthcare activities across the organization. Significant accomplishments include: establishing a clinical trauma rotation with Vanderbilt University on behalf of the Army Surgeon General (MAR21); serving as the lead clinician for a 60+ Soldier, six week DOD-led, FEMA-supported urban augmentation medical task force (UAMTF) supporting a hospital system in central Wisconsin during the height of COVID hospitalization (DEC20-JAN21); reintegrated the 531st Hospital Center to Fort Campbell after the unit converted the NYC Javitz Convention Center into a 1000 bed hospital (MAY20).Primary responsibilities of staffing, training and sustaining Clinical Operations in a 32-bed Field Hospital, 32-bed Medical Augmentation Detachment, 24-bed Surgical Augmentation Detachment, 60-bed Intermediate Care Ward Augmentation Detachment, forward recus. Surgical teams, mental health teams, veterinary detachments, optometry detachments and preventative medicine teams. Serves as principle advisor to the commander for clinical, ancillary services and hospital operations. Direct supervision of 13 assigned nursing officers and 250 enlisted personnel in planning, organizing, and executing clinical practices and activities. Deputy Commander for Nursing (CNO) with the primary responsibilities of staffing, training and sustaining clinical operations in a 148-bed field hospital and separate surgical, combat stress, preventative medicine, veterinarian and optometry teams. Serves as the principal advisor to the commander for clinical, ancillary services and hospital operations. Oversees personnel in planning, organizing, and executing clinical practices and activities. Responsible for clinical competency, professional development, and readiness of hospital personnel. Provides oversight for quality improvement, risk management, credentialing, privileging, and implementation of professional standards. Ensures effective communication and collaboration with all staff officers to ensure the delivery of comprehensive hospital operations coordinates and directs the medical skills rotation program for the 531st HC and all subordinate units. Serves as a liaison officer to medical treatment facilities, coordinates requirements for 119 clinical personnel. Served as primary 531st action officer for the successful implementation of a partnership with Vanderbilt Medical Center, codified guidance by the deputy surgeon general and CEO, and laid the foundation for embedding three army nurse officers in a civilian facility full time. Served as primary clinician for a deployment of 40 clinical personnel on behalf of FEMA to Wisconsin, supplementing and overburdened civilian healthcare organization’s efforts in caring for COVID-19 patients. Oversaw the logistical return and 10-day isolation of ~200 COVID-19 healthcare workers from the NYC Javits Center to Ft Campbell, KY.

Oversees all aspects of nursing, patient safety and satisfaction, as well as infection control. Engaged in Process Improvement throughout inpatient nursing areas. Responsible for public health nursing across multiple austere locations/ countries and the community's wellness program. Oversees coordination with host nation facilities and air evacuation for capabilities that exceed local capabilities.

Senior Nurse Executive for a critical-access, 24-bed hospital in an overseas area of operations staffed by nearly 50 licensed (RN and LPN) and unlicensed (medics) nursing staff. Responsible for nursing in a 20-bed multi-service intermediate care ward, a four-bed ICU, 8-bed ED and 2 OR beds. Sets the scope and standards of practice for staff and ensures adherence to Joint Commission and infection control principles. Responsible for the day to day operations of the WHTF and WHSL. The WHTF deals with deployment related women's health issues. Focus on education of female Soldiers and healthcare providers, ensuring adequate protections (armor), deployment and family readiness. Oversee all medical coverage for 7k+ marchers marching 26.2 miles and >400 medical volunteers (DMAT, EMTFs, etc.) for the annual Bataan Memorial Death March. Program manager for Emergency Medical Services for the 3200 sq miles of WSMR, larger than the state of Rhode Island. Ensure a 7 minute response time for BLS and ALS<12 min, > 90% of the time. As the Chief Nurse, serves as a nursing role model and expert for nursing practice within the facility. Implements the Chief of the Nurse Corps strategic planning guidance, to include the Patient Caring Touch System and the Army Medical Department's Patient Centered Medical Home.

Planned missions at the tactical, operational and strategic level. Crafted expeditionary military medical support for units ranging in size from a few hundred to the tens of thousands. This includes host nation medical support for civil-military operations in a fixed and field environment. Collaborated with peers who had no knowledge of medical capabilities, enabling a better understanding of both their combat unit and the US military medical unit capabilities, resulting in better synergism.

Responsible for the overall operation of a 32-bed surgical ward with an average daily census of 26 patients supporting 14 surgical subspecialties in a 243-bed regional Medical Center serving a 6-state region. Supervises over 70 registered nurses/paraprofessional staff. Provide standards of care for staff, coordination of training, and participates in multiple hospital level committees.

Student in the Army-Baylor MHA program, split into a 64 credit didactic year and a 1 year internship. The one year internship includes spending a week with Resource Management, Surgery, Personnel, Medicine, etc. Also includes rotations with outside orgs (Multicare, UW, Wash State Department of Vets Affairs, etc). Additionally, a Graduate Management Project is required; mine was a 70 page paper calling for the standardization of emergency code calls in the Army Medical Department.
