About Michael Wissemann

I’m passionate about my community and traveling I love volunteering in EMS which I’ve done on and off for three decades. I’ve used scouting (former BSA) and Civil Air Patrol to connect with my son and helped mentor upcoming young adults. Some of my best memories are coaching my two sons as they were younger, and I’m looking forward to doing the same for my daughter in the coming years. This love of mentorship has recently manifested itself as publishing in peer reviewed journals and preparing others for what military medicine’s future holds. My favorite reads are HBR and the US Army War College Parameters (strategic thinking). Right now, I’m working through The Four Disciplines of Execution (4DX) and enjoy benchmarking our healthcare journey against the book. In my away time, I recharge traveling across Europe with my family and introducing my kids to different cultures and challenging their viewpoints. I also enjoy walking in the German woods, getting on my triathlon bike and geocaching. Some of my career accomplishments I’m most proud of is leading an advanced trauma life support section into Iraq with the early hours of the liberation, deploying to stateside hospitals to help FEMA with COVID care, and the partnerships I helped establish while a CNO in a military hospital in Kuwait. They still pale in comparison to seeing an mentored, upcoming nurse leader grow into a professional they can love for years to come.
