•Conduct biological assessment studies on Pacific salmon.•Manage research projects, budgets, data entry, personnel. •Develop and manage thermal marking programs to determine contribution of hatchery fish to gill net and seine commercial fishery. •Monitor migration patterns, run strength, run timing, age composition, and sex ratios of salmon stocks.•Collect thermal mark data from otoliths for use by Federal and State resource managers to coordinate commercial, recreational, and transboundary fishery. •Coordinate projects with National Marine Fisheries Service, Alaska Department of Fish and Game, and University of Alaska Fairbanks. •Help other hatcheries in Alaska, Japan, Soviet Union and Washington to develop their thermal marking program.
