Our work is marked by the idea that modernism should have warmth and materiality - that space should feel lived in and textured. Much of the work attempts to bring the play and “texture” to clean modernism through the use of new and unexpected materials, details, form, and color. Texture is also created by challenging the program of the space/design to create unexpected moments of interaction. Our design work seeks to be aesthetically appealing, yes, but hopes to make you take notice, to feel something.We hope to capture the art of simplicity and beauty in materials to create a cohesive whole. The intentionality in each detail allows for moments of engagement and opportunities for social gathering in a thoughtful environment. Restraint in design elements strengthens the feeling of comfort and contentment in the space. It evokes a desire to stay and to notice - to focus on the things that matter. Our participants are product designers, illustrators, architects, interior designers, graphic designers, and furniture makers. We are the type of people that go to the Judd house and look at the screw heads.
