Acting Director, Ppmo And Solutions Architecture
When the Director of the PPMO at EPS retired, I was asked to lead our PMO practice in addition to my regular role in managing the Solutions Architecture section. For 10 months I led our team of IT project managers in managing IT projects according to the standards and processes developed by the team. I was able to realize significant synergies by better integrating our intake and design teams with our project management teams, creating a single value chain of processes starting from an IT request all the way through to project completion and benefits realization for the EPS.
Manager Solutions Architecture
In this role I oversaw the teams responsible for project intake, solution design and approval, strategic planning and user engagement. Our teams of Enterprise Business Analysts, Domain Architects and sworn police officers would engage with project requestors to gather requirements, design solutions, estimate costs and reach out to front line officers as well as leadership to understand the ongoing needs of the EPS at all levels and ensure that our strategies, roadmaps and solutions were aligned with the needs of the service.
General Supervisor, Business Intelligence, Analytics And Technology
As the General Supervisor in this work unit, I led teams responsible for the delivery of Business Intelligence, Analytics and Technology solutions to the rest of our branch, some 1200+ employees strong. Our team of Data Analysts, Spatial Analysts and Technologists kept City Operations staff in the Parks and Roads Services Branch operating at peak efficiency with the right tools and information needed to do their work, and provided timely and accurate data to leadership to ensure data driven decision making.
Acting Director, Business Integration
The Business Integration team provided essential services to the operational teams in the Parks and Roads Services branch, including seasonal recruitment, workforce development and training, strategic planning, business process improvement, contract and procurement support, facilities and lease management, technology, maps and GIS data analysis, performance measurement data, analytics, and more.As Acting Director, I provided strategic leadership, mentorship, accountability, oversight and direction to the managers and teams delivering those services, and ensured that the operational teams received the support they needed to function effectively and efficiently, while also continuously seeking ways to improve our processes, tools, and service delivery.
Manager, Application Management (Sap)
In 2016 and 2017 the City of Edmonton began to undertake a number of initiatives to improve governance, business adoption and usage of it's SAP ERP for City business processes, in order to improve value and ROI. I led various teams of business and IT professionals in planning and implementation of all the components of a comprehensive, multi-year ERP improvement program. Corporate initiatives I have led include:• Leading a team in the establishment of SAP Financial Master Data standards and embarking on plans to realign the City of Edmonton's Chart of Accounts in accordance with industry best practices.• Establishing and chairing a 'SAP Working Group' comprised of delegates from each line of business in the City utilizing SAP. The Working Group provides additional governance, business leadership and change controls for SAP issues and service requests executed by the SAP IT team.• Establishing a corporate SAP Centre of Excellence as a repository for training materials, business process documentation and SAP Best Practices, as well as a corporate hub for information and communication around current and future SAP projects and functionality.• Designing and rolling out a corporate ERP super user community across all lines of business, driving improved training, validation and standardization of processes, reduced support burden for IT, and greater business awareness and adoption for the SAP platform at the City. Awarded 'Best New or Emerging Program' from SAP Insight in 2015.• Launching and co-leading a two year transformative "SAP Renewal" program, planned to modernize the SAP ERP and user experience with HANA and Fiori technologies in order to enable simplification of process and greater efficiency and cost effectiveness for SAP driven processes.
Manager, Business Process Improvement
As the Manager in the Financial Process Improvement section of Financial Services, I led a team of project managers and business analysts engaged in multiple process improvement initiatives, identifying and implementing ‘future state’ operating models to increase efficiency. Our team successfully concluded an 18 month transformation program of the City's Financial Services branch which realized increased efficiency and reduced waste. We also launched a corporate Innovation and Continuous Improvement program, seeking to establish a made-in-Edmonton approach to innovation in business process improvement. In addition, I sat on the the City of Edmonton Open Data Advisory Board, providing guidance and direction to IT on the development of standards for data transparency, and assisting in the decision making process for Open Data.
Delivery Project Executive
As a Delivery Project Executive I was responsible for ensuring that projects and services were delivered on time, on budget and provided both clients and IBM the benefits of the contract. As DPE, I had responsibility for the satisfaction of the client and the health of the account. I worked with the customer to manage their experiences and supervised project delivery teams. It was my role to ensure that the customers needs were being met and that IBM was delivering services that are described in the contract or project Statement of Work. On various projects I would be tasked with transitioning new systems and processes into IBM's support contract. I was responsible for staffing and meeting the financial targets for the account. This challenging role required skills in executive leadership, project management, negotiation, sales and customer relationship management, and people management.
