As Senior Manager★ Supported the Project Management Office on global regulatory implementation of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and International Organization of Securities margin rules program for new collateral requirements for non-centrally cleared Over-the-Counter (OTC) derivatives to reduce or mitigate risk. ★ On behalf of Group Counsel (client-side), led Legal Stream to ensure that trading hubs in Europe and Middle East and Asia and Pacific regions were ready to comply with appropriate legal documentation (e.g. insurance and investment products) and collateral infrastructure supporting non-centrally cleared OTC trading for in-scope counterparties. Framework impacted AML and KYC monitoring★ Served as part of the management team for the strategy and operations practice focused on implementing new regulatory initiatives affecting the Swiss financial services industry on a global scale. I managed restructuring initiatives–on-shore, near-shore, off-shoring (ONO) projects–on behalf of a major bank; advised clients on strategy development, cost allocation management, and cost reduction; and recruited and mentored new talent.

In this position I served as a Member of the Chief of Staff team supporting the Head of the Accounting and Controlling Group (GAC). I helped ensure the smooth operation of the department and implementation of business-wide action plans and key initiatives. I also managed monthly business planning and financial forecasting in line with our one-year strategy, with a focus on cost control and risk awareness and mitigation. More specifically, I:★ Facilitated access to timely and accurate information to allow business divisions to evaluate and challenge their allocations at the functional level. ★ Drove a cost allocation pilot that provided greater transparency to business divisions as well as significant improvement of the cost view from a business division level down to the performance layer view. ★ Managed group-wide the quarterly and annual process for Sarbanes-Oxley Act Section 302, coordinating with top bank management across all functions and ensuring compliant disclosure procedures and controls. ★ Supported two-year ONO project across GAC that achieved savings of $3B CHf through relocation of hundreds of positions from Switzerland to lower cost locations> Managed to accomplish this while maintaining uninterrupted business operations, alignment with our compliance policy, and effective knowledge transfer.

In this position, I reviewed and redesigned the processes and tools for governance and surveillance during a turbulent period at UBS in the wake of global financial crisis. This involved managing relations with regulators, undertaking a deep analysis of the implications of new regulatory policies, and developing comprehensive solutions to comply with new requirements.In addition, I provided ongoing Group-level funding governance and oversight, monitored funding efficiency and diversification, and provided framework and support for cost-effective funding of operating business.
