Responsible for establishing the company, fund raising, developing a novel vision screener on a smart phone, and commercial growth. Gobiquity successfully closed Series A funding with Interwest Partners in July 2013, and commercially launched a smart phone based vision screener into the pediatric market mid 2014. The product successfully detects risk factors for amblyopia, the leading cause of vision loss in children, and leads to improved medical referrals. The company achieved revenue growth immediately, and for the years ahead. Gobiquity was focused on preventing blindness by being a leader in mobile health apps for vision care. Products are used by medical professionals and patients to acquire clinically significant data in the clinic or at home, leading to improved lives and better deployment of healthcare.

Responsible for R&D and product strategy in vision correction surgical equipment including femtosecond lasers, excimer lasers, and cataract surgery systems.Abbott acquired AMO in 2009, where I was VP of R&D. AMO acquired Intralase in 2007 where I was VP of Product Development.

Responsible for R&D in femtosecond laser and excimer laser surgical systems, and phacoemulsification cataract surgical systems. AMO was acquired by Abbott in 2009, where I continued and expanded my leadership in vision correction equipment. Responsibilities for excimer laser products and cataract surgical equipment were added after the acquisition.

Responsible for development of new femtosecond surgical laser products, strategic roadmap, and intellectual property. Intralase was acquired by AMO in 2007, where my responsibilities continued as VP Product Development for femtosecond products.

CTO and executive board member of early phase company in the United Kingdom responsible for technology, products, fund raising, and intellectual property. Powerlase manufactured high power pulsed lasers for manufacturing applications.

GigaTera was an early stage company pursuing pulsed laser technology for telecommunications applications. Responsibilities included moving technology from research grade to commercial grade, building and leading a team, and senior leadership/board level management accountability. The position required relocation from Southern California to Zurich Switzerland.

Intralase was a venture backed developer of femtosecond laser systems for vision correction markets. Hired as 8th employee and responsible for product development and building manufacturing capabilities. Managed overall development of the (Pulsion) Model 1 surgical laser and single use disposable device.

New Focus was a start up in photonics/laser technologies and markets that ultimately went IPO and was acquired. Hired as 6th employee in 1990 during start up as a Product Manager and also held roles as project manager for new products, consultant, and program manager in the new telecom division.
