I am currently a year 5 teacher having previously worked with high levels of EAL and SEND children. I have previously worked across Key Stage 2, including several years in year 6. Since January 2020 I took over the role of SENDco whilst also teaching full time, and in September 2020 embarked on my Nasenco qualification at Sheffield Hallam University. I have since stepped down from this role to focus on my in classroom teaching, ensuring that children’s needs are being met in the classroom and enabling them to become well-rounded members of the community that they serve. In November 2021, I became head of Key Stage 2 at Oasis Academy Don Valley and am enjoying being part of a team that moulds the foundations of children’s education. Being part of the middle leadership team has enabled me to link with other phases across the school and share best practice with EYFS, KS1 and KS3. I have been able to support 2 ECT in the beginning stages of their journeys and am really excited to see how my team progresses as the year continues. Since moving on from this role, I have entered back into the world of SEND as the assistant SENDco for primary at Oasis Don Valley. I am the link between parents, teachers, children and external agencies to ensure that our learners are achieving their fullest potential both in and out of the classroom. I am passionate about being the voice for children and parents with additional needs and enjoy the challenges that come with supporting them on their educational journey.
