“Intelligence without ambition is a bird without wings.” Walter H. CottinghamI am a first year Biochemistry major in the College of Science at Marshall University with intent to go to medical school. Seeking more opportunities to increase and use my experiences in assisting with researched based biology projects, as well as interning opportunities to assist in running trial with experiments, or analyzing data. During high school I struggled with mental health and it resulted in several doctor visits, where I was able to see people pursue their passion of helping others, and those events pushed me to pursue a similar calling. I am currently planning in interning this summer to assist in a research lab, where I will be able to develop skills that make me a more competitive applicant to medical school.In my freetime I enjoy volunteering at the AD Lewis Center to have the ability to hands on work with elementary kids, and serving at my church. I have had the opportunity to grow and be a part of several activities with the church, since moving to college. Meeting with a community from the church once a week to catch up and share struggles has allowed me to improve on empathizing with others and has added to my college experience.
