School to work is a program offered by the Chickasaw Nation to full time Chickasaw university students. The program allows students to go to school full time while having full time pay and benefits. Each student is matched with a department in their field of study. As a marketing major I was placed in the Department of Retail Operations which completes the buying and merchandising for the Chickasaw Nations Casino retail spaces. Job duties include processing merchandise, merchandising/displaying new products, completing inventory task, updating the POS with new merchandise, event planning, putting together credit statements for purchased merchandise, and scheduling promotions.

Job duties include opening and closing store, processing payroll, opening and closing registers, maintaining a strong positive presence on the sales floor, assisting customers with finding the location and size of items, constructing outfits appropriate for a customer’s occasion, greeting and assessing costumer needs, designing store front windows, sign customers up for store reward cards and credit cards, vacuuming, dusting, cleaning mirrors and window, and other nightly procedures.
