Responsible for designing and implementing quality assurance processes that ensured the National Careers Service provided a high quality service for customers in London. In March 2017, NCS London achieved Ofsted Grade 2.Michaela offered a programme that supported a network of over 200 careers advisers in delivering an excellent service: this included robust quality assurance strategies such as observation of practice. Michaela drew on her extensive teaching experience to provide a well-planned and responsive Training Programme for advisers which not only addressed their Continuous Professional Development but also responded to customer feedback.Michaela is passionate about quality improvement and inspired the London network to work together to achieve this goal. She oversaw the Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) for NCS London, setting challenging targets that were monitored regularly, with the ultimate goal of providing an outstanding service for all customers who need high quality careers guidance to manage their careers.

An experienced teacher who has taught English and Drama at KS3 and KS4 in the secondary school sector and English as a Foreign Language to adult learners in Spain and the UK, Michaela delivered, assessed and quality assured the City & Guilds Award in Education and Training 6502 at level 3 and Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) at level 3 and 4. She also trained and assessed professionals undertaking the OCR QCF Level 6 Diploma in Career Guidance and Development and OCR QCF Level 4 Diploma in Career Information and Advice.Michaela has trained a diverse range of professionals working in the guidance sector including: advisers based in schools and FE/HE sector, National Careers Service Advisers, Learning Mentors and In Custody Advisers based in London prisons.Michaela is experienced in developing courses and the accompanying resources. She has also developed and delivered non-accredited workshops which have been tailored for particular customers’ needs, such as Equality and Diversity training for NCS advisers.

Michaela contributed to the careers guidance provision in secondary schools and Pupil Referral Units in the London Boroughs of Southwark and Sutton by supporting young people through individual guidance interviews and group work sessions.During this period she was part of a team who delivered an ESF funded programme to selected Year 9 students in a number of Merton and Croydon schools. This involved the planning and delivery of workshops related to careers, post 16 options and personal development. The project required a confident use of coaching skills and motivational interviewing techniques to help support young people with low esteem and behavioural difficulties.
