The 52nd Street Project, based in New York City brings professional theater artists together with children from the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood to create original theater. Michaela has written more than ten project plays, which she also directed and acted in. Michaela's play, Night & Day was featured at The Clinton White House, Coming Up Taller Awards in 2000.

Courses for this program range from Developing a Business Idea to Getting Funded and include three site visits to start-ups in New York. Students work in groups as they develop their own ventures, build public speaking skills, and ultimately pitch their ideas to mentors, staff, judges, and fellow students. Instructors for these courses and workshops are start-up experts, having founded or led ventures of their own.

Michaela created the nationally acclaimed program, In The Door, bringing residents of Second Stage's Hell's Kitchen neighborhood into the theater with a series of interactive art projects designed around the theater season. Projects included a short film, Contents Under Pressure, filmed and directed by Michaela for the opening of Second Stage's new Off-Broadway Theater on 43rd St in 2001.
