About Michaela Ryan

I am a junior Honors Student at the University of Arizona, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. I plan to pursue a career in medicine once completing my undergraduate degree. I am currently dedicating my time to healthcare and research to make connections and further my interests in fields relating to emergency medicine, clinical nutritional research, neuroscience, special populations such as geriatrics and pediatrics, and gastroenterology.I am a current volunteer researcher with Project Peanut Butter, an international therapeutic food distribution and research program, investigating the metabolic issues associated with pediatric malnutrition such as environmental enteric dysfunction. In addition, I maintain a steady involvement within my university through clubs such as Women in Medicine and Science and Honors Service Club, both in which I hold leadership positions. I co-instruct SCI 299, a pre-health colloquium with the goal of helping connect freshmen and sophomores to resources, people, and opportunities related to preparation for and exploration of work in post-undergraduate health professions. In my free time, I love to read, cook, spend time with my cat, and do yoga.
