Served as a primary interventionist in the education and treatment of children with autism. This function was accomplished by providing 1:1 in-home behavioral treatment and participating in clinic meetings. Assisted in the implementation of the programming in a range of areas including:social interaction, functional living skills, self-help skills, gorss-motor skills, language, academics, pre-vocational skills, behavioral management, communication, and recreation/leisure.

I regularly held one-on-one sessions with students of my caseload which consisted of approximately 60 students. Considering I was the only counselor pursuing a science degree, I was responsible for reaching out to all other science students in our program who are interested in counseling. I made sure to give students the tools to develop and succeed academically, personally, socially, and spiritually. In addition, I facilitated an internship offered to students for course credit. This internship class was a space to develop leaders within our community and we provided the information crucial to being an effective leader on campus and for well beyond graduation.

As a nonprofit organization, Black Pre Health is dedicated to increasing the retention and matriculation of traditionally underrepresented pre-health students. It is the ultimate goal to motivate and support students to pursue a health care profession and thus, increase the amount of minority representation in the health care field. Black Pre Health serves as a catalyst for accomplishing these goals by inviting respected speakers from UCLA and the community to speak on topics ranging from managing the academic rigors of science classes to internship opportunities to grad/professional school interviews. Three of the most critical outreach components are BLAIDS (black and latino aids project), BHP (black hypertension project), and a new project I started aimed to prepare high school students for the rigors of a science education at top tier institutions.As president, I was responsible for maintaining communications outside of the board of directors, contacting speakers, mediating and helping to program general meetings, representing BPHO to other affiliated organizations, planning the inaugural health festival, and creating a third outreach component for further betterment of the immediate underserved communities.

I assisted the professor with teaching an introductory research class which showed students the basic biomedical science research techniques. I also mentored these students using my own research experience to provide the guidance necessary to assist new students with entering labs and beginning research projects of their own.

Worked to gain a better understanding of the kinetic stability of AcrB by measuring its rate of subunit exchange. Experience with basic molecular cloning methods, such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA purification, growing bacterial cultures, and biochemical techniques such as expression tests and protein purification.
