My name is Michaela Stewart, and I am from Kokomo, Indiana. My major is Accounting and Law and Ethics Decision Making at IU Kelley School of Business. I chose these majors and minor because it combines my love for math, sports, helping others, and my love for law. I came to IU because it was one of the only schools to have my major and because of the support system that I was going to gain coming to IU. My interest in business was sparked from a young age because of my father first and then my momma opened her own medical practice which just enhanced my interest in business. I first became an intern at the Bloomington Mayor’s office through my Cox Scholars program. I felt that this internship was the best fit for my desires because it put me around professionals of all majors. Furthermore, it also is a position where the main focuses is helping the citizens of the city. This job has allowed me to meet the Governor, the IU President, several mayors, and one of the counsels for the United States Government. Meeting these people has allowed me to gain incredible knowledge from their wisdom and build connections for lifelong mentorships. I plan to become a sport contract lawyer for my career and having the attributes of helping others, math, and law will allow me to assistant my clients to receive the best deal for them.
