As a Peer Facilitator for the American University Experience AUx2 program, I have strengthened my skills of how to have and guide respectful dialogue about difficult topics and how to think critically about issues of power, privilege, and inequality. I collaborate with a First-Year Advisor to design the lessons for our class and to present the information to the students. I also work to create a comfortable learning environment for my students to learn from each other and strive to develop strong connections with each of them.

As Executive Director I led a team of 35 students in the planning and execution of the EagleTHON 2020 Event. I oversaw fundraising strategies and implementation that led to surpassing the goal of 40,000 by nearly $5,000, making the 2020 event fundraising total the most raised in EagleTHON history and a 35% increase in fundraising from the year prior. I was also responsible for delegating tasks to three steering board members and ensured they had the proper training and tools to complete tasks and delegate to their executive board and committee members.

I worked with a lead teacher to make lessons and take care of twenty children ages 3 to 5. I was responsible for their safety and wellbeing as well as making sure they were having an educational and fun time at camp.

At the Foxhall Campus of the Lab School of Washington, I spend time in a variety of different classes throughout the day. I assist the teachers in class and work to build strong relationships with both students and staff. I learn about the individual needs of each child and meet these needs as I support the students as well as push them beyond their comfort zones. I uphold the schools' values of inclusivity and a positive psychology mindset.

For 2 summers I was a full-time Nanny for a family of 2 children. I made detailed schedules for each 10 hour day I spent with them and gathered any materials and resources needed so I could implement the activities I planned. I included a wide range of activities to meet the needs of the children. I was also responsible for the safety of both children and ensuring that they arrived at all necessary appointments and camps on time.

After being a member of the internal committee the year prior for EagleTHON, American University's Dance marathon benefitting Children's National Hospital, I was selected to serve as Finance Director for the 2017-2018 school year. In this role, I was responsible for taking care of all financial matters and transactions as well as holding meetings with my committee members regularly. I led our decisions with regards to fundraising events and efforts. I developed fundraising techniques and instructed participants about how to use them. I also collaborated with other steering directors to ensure we were communicating frequently and effectively. During this year we held a record-breaking event, surpassing our goal by over $8,000.

I tutored a 4th grade student every week in math and english. We created a strong bond that aided my student in developing and strengthening her skills. I also adapted to work with other students when my assigned student was absent.

Through this program at American University I have developed strong research skills and a deep understanding of how to work with community partners. I worked with my peers to conduct interviews and analyze our research with a nonprofit organization. I also had the opportunity to present research at a conference held by The Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action. I was also selected by my peers to serve on our Community Advisory Board. Through this position I have strengthened my skills of working in groups and delegating tasks and have also had the opportunity to talk with prospective students and their families.

I organized an 80+ hour service project where I planned lessons and led a group of volunteers to teach free art classes to over 30 kids ages 6-12.

I worked with groups of children ages 8-16 and created bonds with them and their families as I helped with the staging of 4 productions. I assisted theater professionals and took direction under short notice.
