I worked at this fast paced family restaurant on and off since the time it was legal for me to have a W-2 job. I love this place and all the relationships I made there. I hosted, washed dishes, and served tables. This place taught me a lot about quality standards in service and product as well as how to work under pressure. I learned how to work as a part of a team when serving is typically a very competitive position. I learned upselling techniques and how to relate to people. This was a very foundational job for me and I am ever grateful for the ability to come back to it whenever neccessary.

Straight out of college I opened this bakery coffee shop and built it to $300,000 in sales annually. With that I built a community, a rockstar team of 6-8, and skills I will use forever. I catered several high profile charity events in my community and also served as a daily caffeine and breakfast stop for many. I created branding and a personal relationship with my social media followers. The facebook group generated a large portion of my sales and we took a full schedule of custom orders through the platform. Purchasing, accounting, and team management were daily activities for me. I was in my element running my small town shop. I learned alot from the successes AND the failures of the venture and I apply them to what I do daily.

I was able to start cashiering at 15 years old with a company called Pamida. That company sold out to Shopko during my time there and I had the really cool experience of helping with the store conversion. We initially started the process with reducing inventory with progressive sales. Following the final day of business as Pamida we cleaned the store reset infastructure. The following week was full of learning new inventory systems and total plannogram resets. All in all it was a very informative experience for a 15 year old!
