The National Leadership Forum exists to equip young Australians (18-26) to lead selflessly and courageously on a strong foundation of values, compassion and connection. The National Leadership Forum is one of our Australia’s preeminent leadership development initiatives for young people aged 18-26. Since 1997 the Forum has sought to inspire and equip young adults to use their talents and energies to serve others. The focus of the Forum is not political: rather it seeks to cultivate a more inspired leadership ethic in our young people, regardless of the field they choose to enter.

This experience was a beautiful reminder of how we can build relationships and connections with others, regardless of the language spoken. An incredible experience that allowed me to teach English as a second language to Thai High School students living in a semi-rural community of Thailand. With low English proficiency and limited exposure to foreigners, I had the role of fostering confidence and familiarity with my students, whilst encouraging their speaking skills as they continued on their English as a second language journey.

Burn Bright is a Not For Profit that specialises in Student Leadership and Wellbeing Programs across Australia and New Zealand. My time at Burn Bright was one that solidified my passion for working with young people and communities across the country. I fulfilled the position of Relationships and Services Manager during my time and absolutely loved it! When we were not out facilitating in schools, I would find myself in the office writing programs for our schools, crossing-off lists for office admin and connecting with our teachers or partnering organisations. I found my groove for service and client management in this role and now see this as one of my greatest strengths. Program facilitation was another facet of my role at Burn Bright. This found me traveling across Australia to work with young people from various communities and backgrounds. I had the immense opportunity to team facilitate programs that challenge and develop students through tailored experiential leadership and wellbeing programs. Alongside school facilitation, Burn Bright hosts two annual camps: National Leadership Camp, and Perth College Leadership Camp. I had the opportunity to attend as a Lead Mentor over the years which saw myslelf and two Co-Mentors guide a small group of 10 - 12 young people through their exploration of Vision, Values, Grit and Service over the course of 4 days. Burn Bright was a dream organisation to work for and allowed me to press into my love for people, positive team culture, and making a difference in the lives of young people across the country.
