Power - somebody loves it, somebody hates it, somebody uses it, somebody condemns it. Either you like it or not, we all have it. We all are power-holders. The topic of power (used in the inter-personal relations during strategic decision-making process) has formed my main academic interests. As a researcher, I applied this topic in the field of comparative local governance. I focused on governmental change, New Public Management and Governance, and intercultural management. More about my work you can read in the below mentioned list of publications. My professional experience is from all the sectors: academic, public, private, and third sector. The last 6 years have been very versatile: Since March 2018 I have been gaining new practical skills (policy-monitoring, policy-development, minutes writing, etc.) at EUROCITIES in Brussels. Before that, I was working in Valencia, Spain, as a freelancer co-developing a research project proposal for mapping the employability of university graduates. I was doing the research project development work also in Finland, at the University of Tampere, where I was awarded a Pirkanmaan Liitto grant and the University of Tampere grant for establishing an international and inter-sectoral consortium. With this consortium, we prepared two project proposals for Horizon 2020 fund (Marie Sklodowska-Curie Action). During the academic year 2013/2014, I was a full-time lecturer at the University of Tampere, Finland. Before that, I worked as a state adviser at the Ministry of Transportation, Construction and Regional Development of the Slovak Republic. In winter 2013, I spent 3 months in Chicago conducting an independent empirical research and having a seminar at the University of Chicago. In autumn 2012 I was a trainee at the city manager's office at the Prievidza City Hall. And while still working on my doctoral degree I was working at LIONBRIDGE as a software testing engineer. So my powers are flexibility, versatility, and resilience.
