The Cedar Hill Economic Development Corporation (EDC) is a Type A (formerly 4A) corporation operating within the city of Cedar Hill to recruit and retain businesses while improving the quality of life for residents. The EDC is governed by a Board of Directors, with staff also reporting to the City Manager and Council.While there, I managed marketing efforts for both the economic development corporation and the City’s tourism initiative, as well as developed and implemented the business retention strategy. This included strategic planning, budget development and management, event planning and sponsorship coordination, trade show coordination, marketing material production, vendor management, overseeing website content and design, media buying, social media strategy, development of film policy and managing requests, advertisement design, business retention visits and communication, and public speaking at community events and council meetings.Notable projects include redesign of the EDC website, launch of the WhyCedarHill.com site and tourism strategy, production of marketing videos, redesign of the Community Profile (awarded the Silver Award for Excellence in Economic Development by the International Economic Development Council), development and implementation of the business retention program, involvement in the City’s rebranding process with HCK2, attainment of the City’s Film Friendly Community Certification through the Texas Film Commission, and assistance with the attainment of the City’s Competitive Ready certification. I also received the 2011 Focus on Excellence Award for Best City Employee from Focus Daily newspaper, and served as an ambassador for the Cedar Hill Chamber of Commerce.

The Bay County Economic Development Alliance is a Public-Private Partnership that covers all of Bay County, Florida and its included municipalities. It is governed by an executive committee and board of directors, and operates alongside the Bay County Chamber of Commerce.As the Director of Marketing and Communication, I managed all communications with the board of directors, researched and developed all marketing materials (including the community profile, annual reports, and quarterly newsletters), designed and maintained the organization’s website, planned the annual economic development forum and other events, planned and participated in industry trade shows, managed vendors, media design and purchasing, responded to RFIs, assisted in marketing the West Bay Project and relocation of the Panama City-Bay County Airport, and assisted the Chamber with events and committees including Industry Appreciation month.Notable projects include the redesign of the organization’s website (won the Stellar Award for Marketing in e-Media from the Florida Economic Development Council), booth design and participation at the Paris-Le Bourget Air Show for the airport relocation project (the first airport to be built in the United States after 9/11), and leading the organization’s rebranding through the logo redesign and marketing materials. While there I was also a member of the Gulf Coast Media and Marketing Association, and served on the board for Girls Inc. of Bay County.

The Tourist Network is group of cable television stations focused on visitor information. It is headquartered in Panama City Beach, Florida with stations also in Destin, Key West, Myrtle Beach, New Orleans, and Atlanta. The stations feature primarily commercials for local restaurants, stores and attractions, but also include programming such as Local News, Club Hour, and the Chef Show.As the Associate Producer in Programming, I researched and planned features for the Local News and Club Hour shows, scheduled shoots with local businesses, maintained relationships with the local CVBs, assisted in video shoots on-site including media coaching, managed the stories through the production process, developed the traffic schedules, managed the information scroll, assisted with various special projects, and served as the designated driver on Club Hour shoots.
