In this engagement, Mr. Fons revived and completed a project in need of repair central to all the Hydro-electric Power Plants west of the Mississippi -- all ahead of schedule. He then collaborated with a BOR (Bureau of Reclamation) web architect to progress an application that does health checks on security in BOR facilities and updates a central dashboards at the Facility, Area, Regional and all-reclamation level. Then at the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Mr. Fons worked as an AngularJS developer on BLM's application to keep track of all their Wells they have purview over. Also he worked doing ETL from the production system. I am extremely excited about the Polymer/Web Component technologies, and also Firebase. I have developed the Nephcounter PWA which allows dialysis patients to track their nutritional and liquid intake. The Polymer 2 version I am upgrading to is at https://nephcounter.firebaseapp.com and the source code is on https://github.com/mfons/nephcounter . The Polymer 1 stable version is at https://nephcount.firebaseapp.com and the source code is on https://github.com/mfons/nephcount. This can be "played with" if you log in using your google account. I have learned a lot about Polymer and Web Components, Firebase, and other modern Web Platform developments. I have expanded my knowledge about PWA's (progressive web apps), JavaScript-based development, and mobile development. My wife is on dialysis and needed an app to manage specific nutrients.

Michael completed user stories (Agile/SCRUM/Kanban) using ADF/SOA/OSB/REST(Jersey)/Activiti/Spring/SQL/JPA/JMS/BPEL/PL/SQL/Jdeveloper/Eclipse technologies. He also worked on an AlFresco project, and work in a Continuous Integration (CI) environment using Hudson/VirtualBox.This company prided itself on its innovative and compliance-based approach to debt collections at a time when new regulations have many debt collection companies stymied. For various high-priority projects, management at SquareTwo was increasing its IT staff with “A-players”. As an ADF technologist on this 20-person development team, Mr. Fons brought his ADF/JSF and SQL expertise to the table to help their new Agile teams complete the company’s highest-priority user-stories. He got up to speed quickly on technologies which were in use but less familiar to him; and he presented immediately on JSF custom components and JSF 2.0, two of the most complex aspects of JSF 5 years ago.Fairly soon after this, Mr. Fons continued to impress by doing the following:• Discovering where his help was needed most; it became clear that Michael’s ADF expertise was matched by some of his coworkers, so Michael set himself apart by quickly learning 10g BPEL also. • He continued working half-and-half as an ADF and a SOA developer.• Worked with AlFresco CMIS technology. The teaching staff and website of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP) play a part in the education of most doctors. The client recognized that its AskAFIP web site needed a technology upgrade. As the lead ADF technologist on this 20-person (5-developer) effort, Mr. Fons brought his ADF/JSF expertise to bear in a full-lifecycle revision of the AskAFIP website (www.askafip.org). He not only architected the standards associated with this application for the JSF technology, but also established much of the framework needed to continue converting legacy to modern technology in a scalable, robust manner. This has been a particularly successful project in light of the technological challenges the team faced. Here is how Mr. Fons dealt with some of these challenges:• Skillfully worked with complex components: tree components to create custom hierarchical searches and input, table/grids that allowed for query/input/update of multiple rows, and hybrid pages that used the caching capabilities of ADF/BC and the flexible UI architecture of JSF.• Took from a variety of technologies to fulfill the spirit of front-end requirements with best-of-breed technologies. I contribute to the Oracle Technet Jdeveloper forums on subjects relevant to JDeveloper like ADF.

• Took over technical development to do two major revisions of n-tier, enterprise trading restriction application.• Overcame issues with CVS (source control) to enable me to work on trunk and branch version of application. • Altered all layers of this system: interface, domain logic, database, etc.• Came up to speed quickly on technical architecture being used• Technology used: Oracle DB 10g, Web Services, iBATIS, DAO, Spring, JSF 1.1, JSP, Java, Tiles, Jasper Reports 3.0.0, iReport, JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.0, Web Logic Server, CVS/SmartCVS, Sybase database (queries, procedures and JDBC data sources), JUnit.

Mr. Fons worked as co-lead on a 7-person (2-developer) effort to rewrite an existing forms application in ADF/JSF (n-tier app). This solution was significant upgrade of an older Oracle technology scheduling/resource/inventory solution. As a lead technologist he oversaw and participated in the upgrading of all layers of this system: interface, domain logic and database. Features and techniques he used included: an integrated, drag-and-drop AJAX solution; using SSO/VPD; drop-down lists; a dialog edit page, where the FK link to the parent could be changed, with a screen refresh. The end-user benefited from robustness-enhancing practices like AM Pooling testing, use of loggers; speed features like afc:cache mechanism; streamlined UI templating practices (like using JSP includes); and usability-enhancing features like use of a hierarchical menuing system. In addition tried and true J2EE/Java coding practices were used throughout.Technologies used: ADFBC/JSF (Java/JSP/EL/HTML/CSS/JavaScript/ DOM/DHTML) on JDeveloper 10.1.3.3.0 and Web Service calls, MVC Design Pattern, AJAX calls, SQL-PL/SQL, Oracle Forms/Oracle Reports/Designer, VNC on Solaris motif and command line, PL-SQL Developer, SQL*Navigator. Used SSO/OID and VPD.

Graebel needed to modernize its Oracle Forms architecture to one of using Oracle ADF. Mr. Fons was hired to lead that change to ADF on this 100-person (20-developer) effort. He architected a scalable framework using ADF best practices and led the implementation of portions of the e-Pages project in Oracle ADF. This project was a nationwide effort by Graebel to enhance and coordinate their moving/trucking/resource scheduling efforts.Mr. Fons’s achievements included the following: integrating ADF system with existing security structure by implementing a custom J2EE login module; abiding by best practices for coding and ADF/Java architecture as laid out by Oracle Corporation in their ADF publications, Technet forums, and internet research; developing n-tier, enterprise-wide ADF Day Page, Red Alert, and other critical pages in the same application, which were central to the ePages project; using innovative UI and back-end solutions to present data​: like nested tables with data entry, multi-list pages, and integration with APEX, as well as using in-memory query filtering booster performance of database queries to the mid-tier; utilizing formalized software lifecycle (waterfall) with analysis and design documents, test-plan documents, and many other kinds of formalized documentation.Technologies used: ADFBC/JSF (Java/JSP/EL/HTML/CSS/JavaScript/DOM/DHTML) and Web Service calls, MVC Design Pattern, SQL-PL/SQL, LOADJAVA for encryption global encryption classes in the database, Oracle Forms/Oracle Reports/Designer, Merrant/PVCS (source control), VNC on Solaris motif and command line, PL-SQL Developer

Mr. Fons gave presentations at RMOUG functions, and worked with the Web Development team with other IT volunteers.

Mr. Fons served as the Team Lead (70% technical; 30% admin/training/strategic planning) for group of 5 programmers in charge of maintaining base-wide computer system (CAMIS) for the entire academic community (4000 students and 400 staff members). His team maintained nearly 40 sub-systems. On a daily basis, he helped team members identify solutions to solving issues and was the “go-to” person for the project. Mr. Fons engaged in up-to-date e-commerce and security issues. He was responsible for maintaining daily revenue stream from tolltag statuses at the transceiver sites. He created New Accounts section for their Revamped online site, worked compatibly on 4-person and 20-person development teams. He got up to speed quickly and worked 50 to 60 hour weeks for 6 months voluntarily.
