As an avid advocate of business betterment through people and process, I use my unique experience and skills to deliver legal regulatory compliance, competence coaching and risk management services to the legal services profession. I have strong knowledge of the SRA and BSB regulatory regimes and have also worked with the CLC Handbook and in the Claims Management sector. I am a solicitor who spent 12 years working for one of the top 25 national firms as a solicitor and graduate trainer and then Quality and Audit Manager. I also trained as a business and performance coach and deliver bespoke training and coaching on a wide variety of topics. This mix of experience, coupled with over 10 years running a compliance business, has given me excellent problem solving and analytical skills, equipping me with a unique ability to conduct risk and compliance drafting, reviews, auditing and coaching to ensure regulatory compliance as well as business process improvement. I have delivered seminars and webinars for MBL Seminars Limited and have spoken at several legal conferences including Legal Futures. The minefield of regulation governing legal services delivery can be easy to get lost in: >> > Which rules apply to what type of entity - whether operating as a regulated firm, self-employed barrister, chambers, training provider or ABS. >>> Which rules apply to different types of work; especially around the Transparency provisions. >>> What information you have to put on your website, in your client care documents, in your complaints policy. It's not made easy either when the requirements are spread amongst so many sources such as regulatory handbooks, Data Protection Act 2018, Provision of Services Regulations 2009, Equality Act 2010 etc. The level of bureaucracy and ‘red tape’ can be very off-putting but given the potentially severe implications of regulatory breaches in the form of fines, disciplinary action or at the worst-case: intervention, closure or prison, not taking compliance seriously is not an option. The good news is that Beyond Compliance can show you how compliance can actually improve your business, help to ease the pain so that your legal service businesses can go ‘Beyond Compliance’ and use the policies, procedures and systems to improve business, staff motivation, client retention and therefore profits.Specialities: legal regulatory compliance advice & drafting for barristers & solicitors, COLP/COFA & HOLP/HOFA coaching, competency coaching, risk management process improvement, quality auditing and quality accreditation.

Just working out which rules apply to which entity - whether operating as a regulated firm, self-employed barrister, chambers, training provider or ABS - can be very difficult to fathom. When there are different rules applying to different types of work; especially around the Transparency provisions , this can make negotiating your way through safely extremely difficult. The level of bureaucracy and ‘red tape’ can be very off-putting but given the potentially severe implications of regulatory breaches in the form of fines, disciplinary action or at the worst-case: intervention, closure or prison, not taking compliance seriously is not an option. The good news is that we can show you how compliance can actually improve your business, help to ease the pain so that your legal service businesses can go ‘Beyond Compliance’ and use the policies, procedures and systems to improve business, staff motivation, client retention and therefore profits. The move by regulators to focus on self-regulation actually allows flexibility and innovation. Regulation will increasingly be one of the drivers of the legal services arena particularly with the increase in 'lawtech'. How your business responds will determine your standing in the market.Do you want your business to simply react to the regulatory regime or would you like to stay one step ahead of the game and use this flexibility and innovation to benefit your business? If so, Beyond Compliance can help you achieve this aim. Show less -
