Michael Holub serves as the Vice Chair for the Illinois Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). ESGR is an office of the Department of Defense (DoD) and is the lead advocate within the DoD for Reserve Component employers. Its mission is to gain and maintain the support of employers for service in the Reserve Components by increasing awareness of the law, recognizing outstanding support and helping to resolve conflicts through informal mediation. In 2012, he was selected by ESGR Headquarters as the National Public Affairs Volunteer of the Year and in 2022 he received the James M. Roche Spirit of Volunteerism Award for his exceptional contributions to ESGR's mission over a sustained period of time.Michael is a veteran of the U.S. Army and he served in the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, known as the Old Guard. The Old Guard is the oldest active-duty Infantry Regiment in the Army and is the Army’s Official Ceremonial Unit and Escort to the President in Washington D.C. As a member of the Old Guard, Mike participated in hundreds of Military Ceremonies and State level events. He is a Life Member of the Old Guard Association and served on their Board of Directors. In 2015, Mike was granted the distinction of Distinguished Member of the Regiment (DMOR) by the Secretary of the Army. In 2018, Michael was selected as one of the HONOR 200 Veterans in conjunction with the Illinois Bicentennial.Mike is retired after a 40-year career in law enforcement in Illinois including serving as a Chief of Police in four communities. He holds the distinction of being a Certified Police Chief (C.P.C.). In 1993, Mike attended the 174th session of FBI National Academy at Quantico, Virginia. Mike was the 2006 President of the Northern Illinois Division of the FBI National Academy Associates and the 2007 President of the Illinois Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates. Michael received a Bachelor's Degree from Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, and a Master of Arts Degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University. He was also a member of the adjunct faculty of Triton College in River Grove, Illinois for more than 15 years, teaching courses to undergraduate students in the criminal justice program.
