My role has 3 main focus areas;1. Business Performance:> Improved safety & production by facilitating business analysis, creation and execution of a business process improvement roadmap leveraging LEAN, Six Sigma, Performance and Change Management methodologies> Over a 2 year period, production improved from 3,260 to 4,750 TPD, due in part to this work.2. Enable Better Outcomes Through Digitization and Leveraging Data:> Implemented a Short Interval Control mine management process by creating a Mine Coordinator role to leverage a near-real time technology to recognize issues sooner, enable response with better information and collect CI data to steer our process improvement direction> Implemented systems to increase efficiency and management oversight. (Operational data system OSISoft PI & Business Intelligence system PowerBI> Facilitated design and implementation of a Layered Review process to ensure each level of the organization is focused at the right level of our KPI tree and that there is a process for the right people to review and act> Small wins: Water supply & consumption was a source of waste for mine management. Led the creation of a page showing the system & alerting when demand outpaces supply, reducing the probability an Ore Handling system shut down 3. Lead the Discovery and Adoption of New Technologies:> Discover, acquire and design of new technologies that either increase safety, performance and/or efficiency> First mine in Canada: Led the discovery, design & implementation of Mobilaris Situational Awareness and infrastructure to enable mine visibility in near real-time> Designed and implemented tablet based systems to improve safety and efficiency of our mine vehicle and equipment fleet undergroundMy position is a combination of Business and IT/OT. Being responsible for a process improvement roadmap is a wonderful way to inform regarding business use of technology. Stability first, then capability and only then capital spend.

Lead enterprise level strategy and initiatives from the corporate office and working with business units to ensure IT capability is aligned with corporate and business unit strategies. Our current model is common strategy with decentralized capability and moving away from bricks and mortar IT embracing cloud solutions where advantageous to Hudbay. Added the role of Security Officer in early 2014 having overall information systems security responsibility for Hudbay globally.

Bring a firm understanding of business requirements and high level strategy to central IT teams for design, build and transitioning. Active throughout all phases of ensuring optimal delivery of solutions for any Sandvik Mining and Construction facility located in 130+ countries employing approx. 15,000 people. Ensure integral build, transition to support, lifecycle management and continuous improvement in concert with global teams.Managed design and implementation of significant performance and reliability improvements while reducing costs. Designed and implemented efficient processes determining which processes could be outsourced or "put on automatic pilot".Co-designed a global Change Management process which increased transparency and made delivery more consistent. Attended to other needs of global impact as directed by global management such as a PLM/Engineering security incident in Shanghai, China and simplification, performance and reliability improvements for SMC's global customer portal discovering root causes, creating new designs and overseeing teams of implementers.

As part of the SMC Global IT Teachnical Team based out of Sweden, responsible for the technical aspects of our global ERP system including build, support, operation and continuous upgrade. Acted as a bi-directional communications conduit between global and US/Canada. Worked closely with companies all over the world and resolved critical issues early in the Business Template/Global ERP system deployment for Brisbane, Australia and Oslo, Norway mostly from my home office.

Responsible to create and maintain Sandvik Mining and Construction's standard client environment for all facilities including 1200 people in North America. (From Mexico to Northern Canada) Maintained hardware standards for all devices, price negotiation and supplier management. Functioned as a contributing member toward the creation of a new global standard client and a project manager to migrate several facilities. Operated as secondary network and server resource. Product champion of our collaboration supporting tools and client systems contact for the Presidents and CFOs of North American product companies.

Loaded/Unloaded steel coils from trucks and tailed a 1/4" slitter line in a steel processing factory. Taylor Steel is a very good company to work for.

Administer system backups and production of labels for the logistics industry as a major logistics partner of Walmart.

Unload paper rolls from trucks, stage, load and assist with operation of corrugator for the production of corrugated board in a very hot, humid and fast-paced environment. (This is where I learned to never drive around with your forklift forks empty...)

Maintain lawns and remove snow for extra money,exercise and fresh air outside factory working hours. (This is where I learned to appreciate the outdoors and particularly the big open skies in rural Ontario where a storm can be seen a day before it arrives...)

Make pizza, bread products and various supporting tasks around school and other work hours as a young teen-ager. (This is where I developed a big appetite...)
