Michael Jean is Director of State and Local Government Affairs at NBCUniversal, where he is responsible for designing and implementing the company’s engagement strategy aimed at deepening strategic relationships with political leaders and senior officials at all levels of government. His primary policy portfolio includes economic development and production tax credits, production regulations, and workforce development initiatives that foster job growth across jurisdictions. His policy and advocacy efforts support NBCUniversal’s creative brands and physical operations, namely Universal Pictures, the Universal Studio Group, Peacock, Telemundo, and NBC Sports. Before joining NBCUniversal, Michael served as Special Assistant to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer. In that capacity, he was the Majority Leader’s advisor in managing relationships with both business and political leaders across the country. He also was engaged on a host of policy issues including the passage of the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act. He also worked on several political campaigns, including for now U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and President Joe Biden. In those roles, he planned and executed high-profile public events across the United States. He holds a Bachelor's in political science from Binghamton University and a Master's in teaching from Teachers College at Columbia University
