City People is an arts planning and programming brokerage that specialises in arts/culture strategy, producing, and creative place making. It undertakes projects across both the public and private sectors.

As part of its transformation of the industrial Sydney harbourfront land in the Bays Precinct, Urban Growth is planning the development of an Innovation District based at the White Bay Power Station and is currently in negotiation with Google Australia as an anchor tenant.My responsibility is to seed the future identity of this 100-year old power station as a place for knowledge-intensive industry and creativity. In my role, I am currently planning:- a pop-up innovation hub to be located on the site as a place for experimentation and project development- a series of art / technology / science / research projects that will have public outcomes as part of broader White Bay 100 celebrations in 2017.

SHFA produces 10 major annual festivals / events in Darling Harbour and The Rocks attracting an annual attendance of over 2.5 million people to a diversity of free and ticketed cultural activities. Accountabilities• Advise new cultural directions directly to Executive / Board • High level leadership and curatorial direction for all cultural programming• Strategic direction and public advocacy• Government, cultural and commercial sector partnership development, • Evaluation, reporting and financial management (annual budget $4.5million)Key Achievements • Occupied this role since its inception and have led the formulation of cultural strategic leadership for the organisation including: annual programming direction and key board recommendations, business plan development and festival evaluation processes. • As the organisation’s cultural spokesperson, I lead all key representations of our artistic vision and cultural advocacy for festival public relations and cultural sector engagement.• Initiate key international and national programming and networks• Spearhead the development of productive commercial and cultural partnerships for the organisation’s key cultural events.• Repeatedly conceived innovative, creative and compelling cultural festivals and delivered them to great success. Examples include The Rocks Windmill: a major one-month pop-up public art installation and venue which interpreted the windmills history of Sydney. Similarly, The Village Bizarre is a very popular program of Site-based installations, performances and urban art interventions (over 8 Friday evenings in Nov – Dec, 90,000 visitors discover contemporary multi-arts throughout the laneways and intimate venues throughout The Rocks).• Provide strategic leadership in the resource management of the staff and finances of the Foreshore Authority cultural program. In conjunction with key delivery staff, oversee budget allocations and secure income streams

Engaged as a program consultant to develop a public event for Bundanon to connect with its local community, while maintaining the organisation’s contemporary art credentials. This event responded to regional community preferences with local cultural development projects (circus, hip-hop, Aboriginal dance) and also challenged their boundaries with contemporary multi-arts practitioners and high profile artists such as Kate Miller Heidke & Jimmy Little. The event subsequently became an annual festival.Accountabilities • Consulting contract direct to the CEO• Development of regional community partnerships for major events• Identification and targeting multi-arts and cross-sector content for regional audiencesKey Achievements • 2009 directed and produced Ten Trenches, a cross disciplinary art / science symposium and performance investigation which again combined local environmental concerns and contemporary art and received critical acclaim and wide exposure.• 2010 initiated a significant creative and productive partnership by co-convening SITEWORKS: a three-year cross-sector art and environment research and performance laboratory. By bringing together arts and cross-sector environmental workers, this series has subsequently become a signature event at Bundanon and receives artistic acclaim and enthusiastic local support.

Live Sites was a program I founded based on a coalition of state and local government, cultural and commercial sectors. During the four years of my leadership I successfully guided the stakeholder management of this collaborative project to the high satisfaction of all partners. Accountabilities• Report directly to Board• Found and develop annual innovative cultural program• Establishment and strategic leadership of 5 direct reports• Public advocacy • Partnership developmentKey Achievements • Over 100 days of content delighted (and startled) Novocastrians and awoke parts of the city that were unutilized or neglected including Dancing in the Streets, public art installations, Vehicular Theatre seasons and Latino concerts. • Increased project funding by 60% via commercial and government sector partners• Rockers and Revheads became an immensely popular annual festival injecting over half a million dollars into the local economy.• Established an 8-month aerial training facility with leading Australian circus trainers (Circus Oz). and a sellout 3 week circus dinner cabaret season. Successful emerging local circus trainers were subsequently engaged in a year long, schools based training program supported by Lower Hunter Health.

Theatre Studies

Harbourfront Centre is Canada's largest cultural centre featuring a programme of over 4000 events per year and hosting the country's leading contemporary practice in visual and performing arts. Funded by the Australia Council and Live Sites, this three-month fellowship was focused on research into the Centre's extensive public programme. Working with CEO and programme directors, I examined programming and development models of the centre. Responsibilities included programming and sponsor liaison for a major fundraising event in Sept 2006.

The festival proved a critical success and generated over $300,000 throughout the season.

School of Society Culture and Performance lecturer in diverse subject areas including performance studies, site-based art and cultural studies. Responsibilities include course design, co-ordination, lectures, workshops and tutorials.

Responsibilities include ARC Linkage grant preparation and programming and management of symposia, special events and publications.

Emu Performance International: 1991 – 2002 • Created, produced and performed a solo physical theatre show which toured extensively in Asia, Europe and Australia, winning multiple awards at Shizuoka International Daidougei Festival (Japan).
