Dr Michael Anagnostou is a Sports Management academic and sports business consultant with a strong interest in sports management and marketing research. Currently he is a University Teacher in Sport Management & Quantitative Research at Loughborough University which is the best University globally in Sport studies.During his career, he has taken on senior positions in organisations such as FIFA (World Cups Gen Coordinator), UEFA (Champions League and Europa League Match Delegate), Nottingham Forest F.C. (Director of Football Ops), Athens 2004 Olympic Games (Competition Manager), Super League Greece (CEO and Competition Director), ARIS Thessaloniki F.C. (Marketing Director and Football Director) among others.Before joining Loughborough University, Michael worked at Coventry University as MSc Course Director and Lecturer in Sport and Event Management. He was a Course Leader, Lecturer in International Football Business at the University of East London, UCFB and Lecturer in Sports Events & Bidding Management, Hellenic Open University. He has taught International Sports Business, Event Management, Consumer Behaviour in Sports, Sport Law, Sports Marketing & Sponsorship, Sports & Facilities Operations. Dr Michael Anagnostou holds a PhD in Sports Science & Physical Education (specialising in Brand Management); MSc in Sports and Recreation Management and a Bachelors’ Degree in Sports Science and Physical Education. He speaks English, Greek and Spanish.He is a member of European Association for Sport Management (EASM).In 2013, Dr Anagnostou was awarded “Sport Manager of the Year” from the Greek Academic Association of Sport Management for his contribution and commitment to the Sports Industry. As a football player he has played for National Football Team of Greece (U16) and Panthrakikos F.C. Men's team while he has been nominated National Champion of Greece with the Regional Youth U18 Team of Macedonia-Thessaloniki and ARIS Thessaloniki F.C. U23 for which he played in all youth teams (U9 - U23).His experience with global organisations and events has provided him with a thorough and applied knowledge of the contemporary challenges in football governance, marketing, management, event management and leadership in the Global Sport Industry. As a result, he has built up a broad network of top sport organisations: Confederations, Federations, Professional Leagues, Associations and Agencies across Europe and globally.
