As a director and corporate counsel, Michael assists DriveTime and affiliate entities with litigation (including consumer and insured litigation), regulatory inquiries/disclosures, corporate governance, corporate insurance, reinsurance, insurance holding company transactions, and national growth initiatives. He regularly provides legal counseling to leaders across multiple entities involving multiple areas of law. With respect to litigation, Michael is involved in every step from the inception of the lawsuit for multiple busy dockets. Michael's experience includes complex insurance coverage litigation and coverage counseling, professional liability litigation and commercial litigation. His represented global insurance carriers in state and federal court litigation that posed extreme risk of loss to the company. He counseled primary, umbrella, and excess insurers on policy coverage issues, risk mitigation, and issues involving priority of coverage disputes. He also counseled insurers on policy drafting for new and existing product lines, including pollution liability policies; professional liability policies; directors and officers policies; and commercial general liability policies. Michael frequently represented brokers, agents, financial planners, investment advisors, managing general agents, third-party administrators, and attorneys in litigation involving professional negligence, breach of fiduciary duties, and malpractice.Michael currently serves on the Board of Directors for the SPCA of Texas, the most comprehensive and longest serving animal welfare agency in Texas. He also served as the Chair of the SPCA's Young Professionals ("YP") group, which is an emerging group of young leaders from a variety of professional backgrounds.
