As a Managing Partner at Fynydd, I direct all aspects of graphic and user interface and interaction design, as well as overall user experience. But unlike many design professionals, I am also a software engineer who has been developing custom application software since 1983. This gives me a unique view into design possibilities based on available technology. As such, I also oversee technology initiatives and co-manage the development team. I'm fortunate to work with such a great group of incredibly talented people, from project managers and software developers, to instructional designers, copywriters, and graphic designers, varied contractors, and everything in between.

As President and CEO of Mezzocode LLC, I created solutions ranging from user interface design to complex server-side applications. I also managed contractors and coordinated projects, managed requirements, defined work effort, designed architectures, interfaced with clients, and more. I also learned what it meant to run a business, including all the tasks and responsibilities that go along with it. Looking back, this really prepared me for my future career. And though it was challenging at times, I'm so glad that I had this opportunity to learn and grow.

As Software Alchemist at D&D Interactive, I was the lead software engineer and database administrator, as well as one of the graphic and user interface designers. We serviced a wide variety of disparate industries, creating everything from websites to custom software applications. I worked with some great people at D&D, and learned so much from them and our clients.

Portland, Oregon Area

I worked with the motherboard R&D division to design and build a software prototype for a revolutionary new type of automated home computer. Intel licensed my software product LaunchKaos, and leveraged my design skills in the creation of the hub application for the entire suite.

Malvern, Pa

As a software engineer at The Vanguard Group, I started working on graphic design for educational presentations and created custom database solutions for the Participant Education department. Later I moved up to assist with managing Vanguard's online presences, including their AOL portal as well as creating the design for the vanguard.com website (featured in USA Today). Being a part of the unique Vanguard culture (the crew) was a great experience. One of the most important lessons I took from my time at Vanguard was the importance of corporate culture; basically, having one. Having a good one.
