On September 15, 2015, I read an article in the NY Times that discussed 5 students at Baruch College who were facing murder charges for a 2013 fraternity hazing incident. Baruch College quickly announced a three year ban on recruitment for all organizations, and that was the moment. I knew that I needed to work with every fraternity, sorority, and University in order to protect our members and our guests. Greek life is the best leadership experience on any campus when done right. Greek University started in September 2015 to leverage the leadership already present in fraternities and sororities to solve the most complex problems of hazing, sexual assaults, and alcohol/drug abuse on college campuses all over North America.Using best practices gathered over 3 years as the Executive Director of Sigma Pi Fraternity, as well as the problem solving expertise developed while helping to build multi-million dollar companies from the ground up, I'm able to quickly engage with college students and show them how to resolve current issues. As a professional speaker, author, and entrepreneur, I've headlined over 400 presentations across 200 college campuses in 40 states. I'm currently pursuing a Doctorate in Assessment, Learning, and Student Success (Higher Education Concentration) at MTSU and will defend my dissertation called "The Early Warning Signs of Hazing in College Fraternities and Sororities" on January 22, 2025. I believe in motivating and inspiring college students to create safer communities, increase their membership, and produce higher engagement. Wilson County Rural Communities Opioid Response Program CoordinatorMiddle Tennessee State University (Mtsu) Sep 2020 - Aug 2024Murfreesboro, Tn, UsMichael served as Wilson County Rural Communities Opioid Response Program Coordinator for a federal grant with the Health Resources & Services Administration through Middle Tennessee State University's Center for Health and Human Services. The two grants from HRSA include a $200,000 RCORP Planning Grant and a $1,000,000 RCORP Implementation grant. Collectively, these grant funds helped us address the three core priorities for Wilson County: Wilson County's first ever Diversion Center for first time drug offenders, a jail based re-entry transition specialist position, and trauma informed drug prevention activities and education for Wilson County schools and businesses. In addition, we were able to fund transportation to treatment appointments in our rural county, provide a pool of funds for MAT treatment for uninsured patients, conduct an MAT training session for all of Wilson County Law Enforcement, and provide billing/coding training for treatment providers to ensure the most number of people can get the help they need for their addictions as possible. -

Vanderbilt University Medical Center Mini-Grant recipient for the Naloxone Community Distribution program in Wilson County. -
Executive DirectorSigma Pi Fraternity Jul 2012 - Sep 2015Nashville, Tennessee, UsFounded in 1897, Michael was the 7th Executive Director of Sigma Pi Fraternity International. He was responsible for the effective administration of the Fraternity with over 78,000 living members and 125 chapters in the United States and Canada. Sigma Pi initiated their 100,000th member in the Spring of 2014, and Sigma Pi experienced 36% growth in membership from 2012 - 2015. The fraternity had the highest average chapter size in the history of the organization, highest number of initiates, as well as highs in areas such as GPA and community service hours.Michael's role involves the development of a vision and plan for the continuing growth and excellence of Sigma Pi Fraternity, as well as the service to its undergraduate and alumni members.
