He wanted to work within the C suite and to learn how to understand and speak "their speak." He came prepared to our interview to show why he was the right candidate with a 90 day plan. He asked questions with a purpose. He prepared agendas for each meeting to show customers and the internal teams their time was valuable. I quickly realized that Michael had one of the hardest working work ethics I had ever seen in the business. He had never moved to the outside because he was "tagged" as an inside expert, when the reality was he just needed the opportunity to prove he could do the role given the opportunity. It would be a stretch for him to learn new skills, but this was something he WANTED to take on. He would do whatever it took to improve his knowledge so he could grow himself. He leaned into help other teammates, looked outside of the core "selling" to understand the real desired KPIs for a customer and how he could bring the right expertise to the table to further deepen his and McAfee's relationships. He learned a "People Process Technology" speak which set him apart from some of his peers and 100% apart from other PLG competitors. He would record our 1:1s so that he could play back anything that was missed later from a coaching aspect, ask key questions about "navigating" to create a win for a customer, was dilegent about "figuring out" HOW to get it done vs accepting that it couldn't be done, and was the person you would want as a leader in your corner that you could count on would produce. He would not falsify his funnel and would focus strictly on ValueSelling (5 criteria) to tell the quick story on where something sat from a probablity ratio. I believe, after choosing him to run part of Texas/OK etc. that he can do and learn anything. I would choose 100 Michaels if I had my choice again. I hope to have the pleasure of working with him again one day, as I too learned a lot from Michael and am grateful for the time we got to build/work together!"
