About Michael Berna

*As Senior Director and Group Leader of Bioanalytical Research in the ADME/Toxicology/PK division at Lilly, I manage a team of 25 senior and associate scientists. We leverage our expertise in high resolution mass spectrometry, immunoassays, flow cytometry, qPCR, and hybridization assays to support the entire drug discovery portfolio. This includes small molecule, peptide, therapeutic protein, and genetic medicine modalities. Our key deliverable is investigating PK, biotransformation, and other ADME properties such as biodistribution and target engagement to rapidly transition novel therapeutics into the clinic.*Members of our group serve as ADME Project Leaders on early discovery teams where we leverage bioanalytical and ADME expertise to drive engineering changes directed at optimizing PK/PD in pre-clinical species and to drive decisions related to the selection of molecular architecture.*Innovation is a focus area for our group, and we participate in basic research related to targeted drug delivery, improving the dosing paradigm of therapeutic proteins through facilitating cellular recycling, and developing novel fusion protein formats.
