In the summer of 2020, I interned with the Leavitt Group. This was an incredible experience as it not only prepared me for my role as a Co-Owner at Berrian Insurance Group, but showed me the tight nit and loving community that the Leavitt Group has created. I spent a week with multiple different departments in Leavitt such as their in-house wholesaler, small accounts department, salesforce development, and many more. Interning with Leavitt taught me many valuable skills for my future career and showed me the vast capabilities that the Leavitt Group has to offer.

In the summer of 2019, I lived in London for four weeks, working with Tysers. I spent time with different teams such as motor truck cargo, aviation, ports and docks, cargo, hull, property and casualty and many more. With each team, I was given a brief understanding of their side of business, what their daily duties were and how they became successful brokers. For two hours each day, I sat with underwriters at their boxes in Lloyds and learned how to evaluate risks and utilize specific programs to aid them in their final decision and premium price. For the remainder of the day, I spent time with the brokers to see the opposite side of the spectrum. I learned how a broker maintains relationships, find accounts, and selects the proper insurance markets for specific risks. Seeing how Lloyds of London works and visiting in a "hard market", gave me a great appreciation for our brokers in London and how stressful/near impossible it can be at times to find coverage for specific risks. Overall, my time with Tysers was a priceless opportunity and experience that I will value and utilize for the rest of my life.
