Responsible for all accounting, finance, administration, HR and IT within this emerging organization. Started in 2007, the Company manufactures and distributes air purification equipment utilizing a proprietary method of bi-polar ionization. Recently revamped the 5-year business plan and projections.

CFO for a non-profit federally qualified healthcare organization with a $30 million budget, 3 locations, 50 physicians and 325 employees. In my short tenure here, I implemented improvements to safeguard the cash collected by our cashiers in all 3 locations, as well as implemented improvements in the billings and collections dept. to reduce our denial ratio from 11% to just 2.5% and to reduce our outstanding days in accounts receivable by 16%, thus improving our cash flow.

In my position as CFO of the JCC of Mid-Westchester, I was responsible for all accounting, finance, human resources and IT. I also served as COO for 9 months during which we were searching for a new Executive Director. In my first full year with the agency, I was able to implement a significant cost-cutting plan, which led to the turnaround of the agency from a $250K budgeted deficit to a $50K surplus.

The firm provides the securities industry with educational programming to assist members to pass the CFA exam, as well as continuing professional education programs, industry conferences and sponsoring various committees of its member financial professionals.Accomplishments include: Successfully streamlined the monthly financial reporting process, to reduce the closing time by 20%;Identified key performance indicators and created monthly dashboards, graphically displaying results;Orchestrated two across-the-board reductions-in-force, resulting in a 35% reduction in payroll costs and turned a forecasted loss into a break-even year for the Society, without any adverse legal actions;Coordinated and created the first-ever business continuity plan for the Society;Actively participated in the creation of a new 3-year strategic plan, complete with new revenue initiatives as well as cost control and containment measures;Instituted new billing and collection policies which reduced bad debts to $0 within one quarter;Implemented a partially self-insured HRA which resulted in a 15% annual savings;Authored a new RFP for banking services, which resulted in moving to a bank with a special program for non-for-profit entities, which virtually eliminated all bank fees;Oversaw the implementation of a completely new IT system consisting of blade servers in a thin-client and Citrix environment, enabling remote access by any employee on a secured basis and assured an overall environment much less vulnerable to viruses and spyware.

Hired on an interim assignment basis, while they continued their search for a CFO with at least 10 years of media experience.Accomplishments included: Effectively managed the financial affairs as the first-ever CFO of a $20 million media company;Evaluated and successfully converted the financial accounting system from MAS 200 to MS Dynamics;Monitored and controlled the cash flows which facilitated the continued growth of the company, without the need to draw down from the revolving credit facility.

The firm provided accounting, tax and management consulting services to a variety of small to medium-sized businesses. Engagements included business evaluations, business valuations, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, negotiation and conflict resolution, forensic and investigative accounting, providing litigation support and expert witness testimony, bankruptcy, insolvency and corporate reorganizations, the preparation of business plans, securing financing for expansion needs, providing corporate and personal tax planning and tax return preparation services, and serving as a part-time CFO for a variety of different client types.Accomplishments included: Successfully managed the financial affairs of two client companies as their part-time CFO, which facilitated the growth of one company from $1 million to $8 million during a 10-year period and the other from $2 million to $20 million during a 5-year period; Performed the pre-acquisition due diligence for a multi-industry conglomerate which led to the successful acquisition and integration of a dozen companies in a five-year period with revenues totaling $30 million; Recommended and implemented cost-cutting and management reorganization plan for a distressed company, which was turned around and sold as a going concern one year later; Maximized the realization from the sale of a company's major asset acting as a trustee for a bankrupt entity.

Responsible for the supervision of all corporate accounting and treasury functions, reviewing all financial statements, overseeing the centralized cash management system and expanding the banking relationships.Accomplishments included:Successfully restructured the credit facilities for the operating subsidiaries, which consisted of three banks and more than $20 million borrowings;Negotiated favorable settlements with various parties from both the creditor and the debtor side;Worked closely with subsidiaries to formulate strategic plans and make decisions, both on a financial and an operational level;Prepared the annual budget for corporate headquarters and actively participated in the formation of the annual budgets for subsidiaries;Prepared the selling documents and memoranda which were utilized to maximize the funds realized from the sale of the operating subsidiaries;Supervised pre-acquisition due diligence on companies which accounted for more than $900 million in acquisitions, including Del Monte Tropical Fruit.
