Learning cell culture techniques for feeder free, serum free neural differentiation of mESCs, and tracking development through imaging, flow cytometry, and RNAseq. Looking at how small molecules influence cell fate decisions and exploring how these individual decisions effect cell populations. Currently looking at how a fully defined, 3D environment influences the structures that are formed in neural progenitors. Responsibilities include training members of other labs in cell culture, mycoplasma testing of cell lines, media preparation, TC room stocking and maintenance and ordering supplies.

Assisting graduate student Ryan Dalton in genotyping mice being studied for the molecular mechanics of their olfactory receptor gene expression. Creating a vector to be transfected into kidney cells to examine the targeting of the encoded protein. Duties include: PCR, Gel Electrophoresis, Gel purification, Primer Design, Miniprep, Bacterial Transformation.
