I'm building Tempo so people can ride anywhere without worrying about bike theft. Bike theft limits bike sales and bike use, which limits bikes' singular ability to protect our climate and our communities. Tempo is a unique partnership of insurers, non-profit bike registries, bike retailers and brands solving one of transportation's most intractable problems. Previously, I founded Scoot, the first electric mobility app. Starting in 2012, Scoot deployed thousands of shared electric motorbikes, bicycles, scooters and cars in the US, Europe, and Latin America, and delivered millions of mass-affordable, zero-emission rides. Scoot's team of over 200 engineers, technicians, designers, customer service staff and professionals were among the first to implement mobility as a service, IoT for EVs, remote vehicle management, geofencing, smartphone-based vehicle activation, EV charging incentives, battery swapping, shared vehicle insurance, customer drivers license verification and safety training, public parking permits for shared vehicles, light EV security and theft recovery, and more. We earned the trust of city governments and the loyalty of nearly 100,000 customers, most of whom took their first electric ride with us. Scoot was acquired by Bird in 2019.
