I started working on PowerBI about two years ago when it was originally called PBI designer. I started dabbling in the program because I was started using Power Query, Power Pivot and Power View within Excel. Coming from a background in mechanical engineering I was no stranger to large amounts of data. Often I would receive multiple csv files which I would weave into a decent looking dashboard within Excel. By far the most challenging part of developing dashboards is a repeatable way to ingest data. In 2015 I discovered the massive power that is Power Query and the M language. This feature in it’s self is amazing. It simplifies the ingestion process for reading multiple files into a data model that can be used in both Excel and PowerBI. At this point I was hooked. From there I quickly became a dash-boarding fiend with Power View. Later on I learned that the same ETL and data modeling was contained in Power BI. Since then I’ve been developing dashboards as a business user.

Driven to help companies "Compete on Analytics" through modern BI tools such as Power BI and Azure cloud products. The acquisition of data is becoming cheaper and easier to obtain, but using that data in a meaningful way can be difficult. Using my technical background in engineering and natural curiosity I am supporting companies to utilize data to make effect change.

Design Redeemed has been a new company started in early summer of 2012. We offer custom website designs, and iOS applications. Our current projects include CopyMyMove, as seen on www.copymymove.com and Chess King Master. Both iOS programs have been released in the summer of 2012. Recent projects include Radical Red Letters which was released in early 2013. My roles include liaison between our programers and our customers, graphic designer, and assist with programing. Johnson Controls has been at the forefront of cloud based services such as Azure and AWS. In this position I am leveraging those cloud based services to develop a data platform for IoT devices. In this role that I've been managing cross business relationships in order to establish best practices from hardware development teams who consume the data platform. In addition to managing the data platform, I'm in charge of implementing Power BI visuals into internal and externally facing projects. This is a mix of I.T. and business acumen in order to produce impactful data visuals.Job tasks include the following:- Act as Product Management to define product features, and with our organization to communicate features to our sales channels, support organizations, and our customers- Plan, Develop, Test, and Document software for analyzing and visualizing data from our products in the Johnson Controls Cloud and Data Platform- Create tools and designs for data visualization and user interfaces that can be reused across products and services.

Working with the Sales and Marketing department to provide value added services to both internal and external customers. Job requires the use and development of extensive business intelligence tools which are used to share pertinent business information for the organization. Tasks and roles include:- Manage the Johnson Controls call center and providing timely feedback to the sales team through interactive BI reports.- Develop custom software solutions for both iOS and Android devices to meet customer needs- Manage and deploy new and revised processes which increase organizational efficiency. Used improved processes to consolidate the management of the call center from two people to a part time position manageable by one person.- Creating advanced data models and analytical tools which are used to provide real time reporting to customer product lines.- Working with multiple departments to create tools and process efficiencies to present data from SAP, BES and other organizational tools to make educated business decisions.- Data analytics

Work with a global team of engineers developing new products for the Power Solutions business unit within Johnson Controls. Task and roles include:- Design and manufacture custom test stands and testing equipment for advanced battery research projects.- Working with engineering groups in multiple regions to develop global product standards.- Review testing procedures and evaulate battery performance to determine product quality.- Aid in the research and development of appropriate manufacturing controls for battery production.- Research fitment application guides and provide relevant vehicle fitments for various group sizes of batteries.- Mentor and teach best engineering practices to younger engineers.

Work with a team to develop new products for the HVAC industry. Current position roles are to development & qualification tests of new products. Mentor newly hired employees and teach them current engineering processes. Design new features and develope new product features through prototypes.More recently I've been the lead engineer assigned to qualify third party products to be bundled with Johnson Controls actuators for global sales.

Primary work responsibilities were to conduct products tests and document the results. While working with other engineers I developed custom statistical analysis program for analyzing test data which was integrated into microsoft excel. This tool has since been deployed throughout our department to all engineers.

While working in the local milwauke sales branch I was able to use my design skills to provide HVAC solutions using Flexsys product line. I also spent time working with mechanical contractors to design R22 refrigerant pipe layouts. Lastly, I managed the ordering, delivery and installation of local HVAC projects to ensure customer satisfaction while protecting company profits.

Designed large 3D assemblies for pre-cast construction projects. Developed new design and drawing techniques for using Structure-Works with large parking structures.

Designed and drafted Ornamental railings. Projects include Miller Park Stadium.
