Michael is a co-founder of Highland Canyon Partners. His responsibilities cover a variety of areas, including, but not limited to, oversight of financial, accounting, and tax matters for the company, and assistance with commercial real estate acquisition underwriting, asset management, and investor relations.Recently, Michael and the HCP team launched a joint venture partnership with Headwater Projects called Highwater Properties. Highwater Properties is focused on acquiring and operating stabilized multifamily communities in large and growing MSAs. Michael will hold a similar role in the JV as a partner of that organization.Prior to co-founding Highland Canyon Partners, Michael worked at KPMG and EY where he provided a wide variety of tax and tax advisory services to traditional real estate and private equity real estate clients, including developers, owners/operators, PE RE funds, institutional asset managers and traditional banks. Such services have included partnership and REIT tax compliance, acquisition due diligence, transactional tax modeling (for acquisitions/dispositions, distributions, recapitalizations, etc.), and structuring (comparing and outlining the use of partnerships, REITs, Blockers, or a combination of all three prior to acquisition).
