- Designed and built a new fixed income data repository to support performance attribution, and internal research. Responsibilities included database design, PL*SQL coding, database administration, and training. Design of the data load architecture (multiple data vendors – complex data requirements) was a large component of the project as well - Vendor files = 100+, all different formats.- Helping to build a custom Portfolio Construction App.- Lawson DBA – move Lawson from an AS400 to a unix env. Write custom extract and data manipulation programs (perl) to provide data for reports and external feeds into and out of third party apps.- Hired to help company transition from a Sybase only shop to an integrated environment with both Oracle and Sybase. All new development is being done using Oracle. - Redesigned the current CRM database which encompasses both prospect and client side data.- Consulted on all new initiatives regarding technical architectures and tools.- Provided Oracle training for current DBA Staff.

- Metratech was a Pre-Ipo company with a product that was originally built using Microsoft’s Sql-Server. I was hired to help them port their database to Oracle. I provided architectural design and direction for this project.

- Hired to get Why.com “Up-and-Running”. Why’s site was built by a third party company, who had a limited database skill set. Why.com is an internet search portal. The architecture is:o Cold Fusion - presentation layer and functionality layer.o Java Servlets – additional functionality layer mainly to support the search functionality of Why’s site. - Hired to design and build Evergreen’s research warehouse, and begin to put in place a database group with a set of common methodologies and practices. - Worked as a DBA/Architect in the design and implementation of a Data Warehouse to support the development of a Fixed Income Analytical Processing Intranet Application. Performance attribution, currency exposures, and trade analysis, are some of the features that are part of the application. Implemented Oracle OPS and had several partition tables within the database.- Work as a DBA/Architect in the initial design of an Oracle 8 DB proto-type for a portfolio construction application.- Designed Tablespace layout for all databases (10 Databases - including Development, Test, & Production). - Stratus bid on a contract that would require Oracle running OPS. Having never implemented Oracle OPS with their hardware and HP’s DLM, I was hired to help build a prototype implementation of OPS as a proof of concept exercise.

- Worked as DBA/Architect in the redesign and implementation of an Oracle database to support FreeMark’s free internet mail service. Applications were written using Pro*C, PL/SQL, and PowerBuilder.- Redesigned tablespace layout including capacity planning and initial sizing.- Addressed and resolved all issues of database tunning and application performance.- Installed and configured Oracle software.- Worked with senior management to scope what was needed for a client base of a million users.

Worked as lead Oracle/Database consultant in the porting of Visibility’s Manufacturing Enterprise Manager product from Interbase to Oracle.- Provided initial sizing and capacity planning for Visibility’s first Oracle based client.- Addressed and resolved all issues of database tuning and application performance.- Mentored Visibility & client personal in the use and general administration of an Oracle database.- Helped configure and administer Visibility’s internal Oracle databases and SQL*Net installations.- Helped research the use of Oracle Auditing capabilities and registration of application modules for performance and transaction monitoring.

- Worked as a team member on a TPC-C database bench-marking project both in the engineering and final Audit phases. - Set up a four node Digital Unix cluster on Digital’s 8400TurboLasermachines and helped debug cluster code, and hardware configuration. - Configured a small Oracle database based on TPC-C guidelines to help aid in my understanding of the TPC-C Benchmark (an industry standard benchmark to measure transaction throughput in a OLTP environment).- Designed an initial database layout on approximately 1000 disks, across 24 controllers, on 4 clustered machines each with 8 gig of memory and 16 CPUs mainly for optimal performance.- Built a TPC-C Oracle-OPS database on the configuration described above with close interaction from Oracle’s development team, and performed initial server runs of the TPC-C audit scripts. Both the cluster and Oracle software used were beta releases.- Participated in the formal TPC-C audit which involved running scripts that perform various transactions against the database in a client-server environment in the presence of a TPC auditor.

- Participated in the design of technical architectures using client/server solutions with an emphasis on database technologies. Cambridge Technology Partners is a system integration firm specializing in client/server and open systems solutions.- Responsible for overall design & development of the databases (I worked on 5 projects while I was there 2 of which I was the technical lead for). The databases ranged in size from 1-2 gigs to 8-10 gigs with anywhere from 100 to 200 tables. Oracle was the database of choice for three of the projects, and I used Sybase for the other two.- Provided consulting services for development teams ranging in size from 5 to 20 members, in the areas of databases, client server tools, and programming languages.- Designed and performed database rollout tasks along with overall application rollout tasks.- Other responsibilities included attending industry conferences & trade shows, and doing application demos.
