Michael Cassel AM produced the West End premiere of Sydney Theatre Company’s acclaimed production of The Picture of Dorian Gray starring Succession’s Sarah Snook and will produce the upcoming Broadway production in March 2025. Throughout 2023 and 2024 Michael produced Hamilton’s first ever international tour with Jeffrey Seller, having previously produced the first international tour of Disney’s The Lion King. In Australia he is the producer of Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, a co-production with the Sydney Theatre Company, Titanique and the recently announced Australian premieres Beetlejuice The Musical and MJ.Current and previous Broadway and West End credits include: producer of Almost Famous and co-producer of MJ, Into The Woods, Redwood and Get Up Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical. In Australia Michael has produced Les Misérables, Mary Poppins, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Kinky Boots, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Singin’ In The Rain, & Juliet and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and, as executive producer, Harry Potter and the Curse Child and The Phantom of the Opera. Notable television productions include The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, A (Very) Musical Christmas and the opening celebration of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Concert tours include Patti LuPone, Lea Salonga and Darren Criss as well as the acclaimed Not Now Not Ever events with Julia Gillard in Melbourne and Sydney.Michael began his professional career working with legendary Australian producer and celebrity manager Harry M. Miller before joining Disney Theatrical Group. Michael was appointed a Member (AM) of the Order of Australia (General Division) for significant service to theatre production and is the recipient of a Doctor of Letters (honoris causa) from the University of Wollongong and Doctor of the University (honoris causa) from Griffith University.

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Road World Championships was held once again outside of Europe, after the NSW Government secured the state its third international event as part of the “10 World Cups in 10 Years” strategy. The eyes of the world were on Wollongong for eight days, with an international viewing audience of 200 million people, more than 300,000 spectators and 500 media outlets staying in the region. More than one thousand competitors from more than 50 countries competed and the event was expected to deliver $94 million to the NSW visitor economy.

Cassel was also responsible for expanding the company’s activities in developing markets such as China, South America and South Africa as well as overseeing the division’s licensing and development relationship with Music Theatre International.Highlights include the launch of productions such as The Lion King in Australia, China, South Africa, Taiwan and Singapore; High School Musical in the United Kingdom, Spain, Australia and on tour throughout Asia. As Associate Producer, Cassel mounted productions of Beauty and the Beast in Brazil, Argentina and South Africa as well as Elton John and Tim Rice’s AIDA in Japan and South Korea.
