Civil engineer specializing in structural engineering. He is the Head of Engineering at Citra Construction, a company that has developed an Innovative Building Technology (IBT) aimed at addressing the housing challenges in South Africa and the rest of Africa. He also has experience in marine engineering having practiced as a marine structures engineer in his formative professional career, designing and costing various structural systems as well as supervising and coordinating their construction.He has a keen interest in leadership & social development and has been involved in a number of community development initiatives through his roles with non-profit organisations. He currently sits on the Board of Director of The Euclid Society (TES), a non-profit organisation that empowers society through various skills development programmes. As the current Projects Director at TES, he oversees the implementation of the projects. He is part of the core founding team of Engineers Without Borders South Africa (EWB-SA), an NPO that uses engineering ingenuity to effect social development. Assumed various roles within the organisation at different stages of its development. Initially served as the Framework Champion, overlooking the financial and legal aspects of the organisation, before being appointed as International Partnerships Champion where he developed relationships with potential international partners for future collaborations. Has also served as chairperson of EWB-SA's Western Cape Professional Chapter as it was being setup.Michael also voluntarily sat on CESA's Young Professionals Forum (YPF) committee for the Western Cape for 4 years. The committee is the voice of Young Professionals (YPs) in the consulting engineering industry. Its mandate is to identify and address issues that affect YPs and provide a networking platform for YPs through a number of events.
