About Michael Corcoran, Ph.D.
Have you ever experienced someone in the workplace who seemed to be a “little off” one day? Perhaps a little short-tempered, sullen, withdrawn, or even upset at another coworker? These days, we see more incivility and harassment, and even violence in our nation and our organizations than ever before. Sadly, there are too many stories on the news of people saying, “I never thought it could happen here….”I founded The Workthreat Group (TWG) in 1988 to help businesses, governmental organizations, health facilities, Universities, schools, and numerous other groups identify, handle and prevent all methods of incivility and potential volatile behavior in the workplace. TWG assists in evaluating and eliminating threats and potential violence to organizations and their personnel from insiders and outsiders. We design, implement and provide the right tools to address an organization's specific, immediate, and long-term needs for the safety and security of all involved within the work environment while contributing to the overall company earnings through increased productivity and a sense of safety within the workplace.I proudly served in the law enforcement field for over 34 years, including in the United States Secret Service. The value and experience I gained from thousands of “hands-on” encounters and my educational background allowed me to consistently develop successful techniques and methods to mitigate the potential for misbehavior and violence. We have handled over 15,000 cases through prevention, training, and education.
