As a mechanical engineer, I have a passion for design and technology. For as long as I can remember, engineering has always fascinated me: whether I was taking apart anything I could get my hands on in order to figure out how it worked to building giant Lego ships from my imagination. Currently I am a manufacturing engineer at GKN aerospace in El Cajon. At GKN, I have been in charge of bringing back to full production two engine ducts for GE, taken over the Rolls Royce lift fan case, served as the backup engineer for all GE cases as well as the JSF F35 cases and volunteered to be in charge of the F119 Transition duct which is the most complex duct our site produces. I have also lead a cross functional team to establish our inspection protocols for inspecting parts on an automated measuring machine, lead many root cause and corrective action meetings to trouble shoot current and new processes on the production floor, taught younger engineers how to interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, reviewed drawings from customers for manufacturability, and have been able to continue my learning of CAD software.An internship with Parker Hannifin became a post college full-time position where I gained significant learning for the entire engineering process. My learning included design of parts, tools and processes. I participated in LEAN manufacturing and Six Sigma, ultimately taking these tools into my everyday problem solving and production floor responsibilities. As a process engineer with Parker Hannifin, I was responsible for on-the-fly troubleshooting of parts and optimization of the production floor. As a manufacturing engineer with Parker Hannifin, I designed the tools and processes required to manufacture parts and ensured parts were effective before handing off to production. During my college Summers, I worked at Taylor Guitars in machine maintenance where I was able to turn my fascination of taking things apart into taking apart Fadal CNC machines. This experience afforded me an understanding of complex machinery and taught me that I had to get my hands dirty in order to truly learn. I am excited to jump into hands on applications and join a creative and innovative team committed to continuous learning.
