I am a QA manager with extensive experience developing and testing software in the fields of Telecommunications, Defense, Healthcare, and Media. I attribute my ability to make difficult decisions under extreme pressure and strict deadlines to my service as a combat medic in the United States Army, including Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm, and my time spent working with editors and reporters in the Production Department of the Knoxville News-Sentinel.I am a graduate of the University of Tennessee, where I earned both a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Mathematics and Computer Science and a master’s degree in Computer Science. I enjoy the challenge of leading my team in establishing test strategies that help the teams we work with do better testing. Leveraging my experience as a graduate research assistant at the Software Quality Research Laboratory, where I helped develop tools used in the support and analysis of model-based software testing, my goal is to create more robust, versatile, and effective approaches to test automation which overcome many of the problems common to existing approaches.Outside of work, I volunteer my time to improve the field of Quality Assurance through education. A lifetime member of the Association for Software Testing (AST), I served as the Chair of the AST’s Education Committee from 2015 – 2018, and volunteer as an instructor in the AST’s Black Box Software Testing (BBST) Foundations, Bug Advocacy, and Instructors courses.I continue to serve my fellow veterans as a member of American Legion Post 2, The American Legion Amateur Radio Club (TALARC), American Legion Post 104’s amateur radio club (AL4US), and as President of the 844th Veterans Benevolent Fund, a veterans group providing support to veterans of the 844th Engineer Battalion and their families in times of need.
