BIL was founded as an accessible means to big ideas that were coming out of TED and other similarly exclusive events. Our mission was to create a culture of sharing. This included a yearly event that the masses could attend and interact with the speakers and other attendees without the cost or attitude of high dollar events in the same ecosystem.We grew tremendously out of our first event in 2008, due in huge part because of our team's ability energize the community to take part in helping build that culture of sharing, experimenting, and . Without the community this would be nothing.In addition to being one of the original organizing team, I stepped up into the lead organizational role for our events in California and Vancouver, Canada for several years. Since then I have stepped back from the event organizational role and am a board member on our 501c3 Non for Profit organization 'BIL Collaborative' where I continue to advocate for the self-sustainability of the global organization.
