Built the Obama campaign organization in New Hampshire from the ground up, hiring staff, managing all political relationships and growing the organization from five to over 105 staffers in 16 offices statewide. Duties included:• Maintaining overall responsibility for all campaign departments and personnel, as well as managing six political department direct reports.• Building, cultivating, and managing political relationships with state and local elected officials, party officials, grassroots activists, community leaders and interest groups across the state.• Organizing and mobilizing the statewide political infrastructure to function in support of campaign message and strategy.• Remaining ahead of political developments, assessing their impact on the campaign, strategizing and executing campaign responses.• Managing the campaign Steering Committee, briefing them on campaign strategy and activities, soliciting input and ideas, and coordinating their outreach and engagement.• Traveling with and briefing the candidate and key surrogates.

Successfully managed the re-election campaign of the five term incumbent Congressman from Maine’s 1st Congressional District. Duties included:• Managing all campaign finances and expenditures, controlling a total budget of $1.1 million.• Supervising local staff, interns and D.C.-based finance, media and polling consultants.• Representing the Congressman at various political and party events.• Speaking on the record with local and national media.• Directing all campaign field activities and outreach efforts.

Designed and produced television-quality policy, outreach, message, fundraising and campaign events across the United States. Duties included:• Supervising and directing advance teams under extraordinarily tight deadlines, intense scrutiny, rapidly changing objectives and within budgetary constraints. • Balancing the often competing and conflicting needs of campaign headquarters, state field offices, national and local media, elected officials, and external political organizations while still producing a successful candidate visit.• Managing the detailed logistics and movements of the Senator, his staff, family, guests, VIPs and the traveling press corps.• Liaising with the United States Secret Service, state and local law enforcement.

Managed corporate recruitment initiatives for all of Akzo Nobel's 16 business units in North America, working in close coordination with both international and domestic project teams. Designed, implemented and managed young employee retention and management development programs within the United States and abroad.
