About Michael Deakin

A highly experienced, technically competent Senior Process Technician & Authorised Person with extensive experience of shift working within the Oil, Chemical and Electricity Supply Industries at Refineries, A Chemical Processing plant and both Nuclear and modern CCGT Power Plants. I have Developed a broad knowledge of the commissioning and operation of various types of plant and equipment as both Field and Control Room Operator. Being self-motivated, readily accepting positions of responsibility, whilst promoting a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork. I thoroughly enjoy working as part of a team, always prepared to help and pass on any knowledge I may have to others, whilst readily accepting help and advice in return. As a person with a friendly disposition, I am happy to communicate with people at all levels, with an excellent understanding of the operation of plant and equipment, acquiring many years experience of Industrial Processing and Power Generation.

    The Energy Transition Skills Hub at Pembrokeshire College is one of three Skills Hub's being set up in the UK and the only one with a State of the Art Control Room Simulation Suite, with advanced simulation software to Train Learners on a variety of Processes from existing Hydrocarbon Technologies, Power Generation to the New Renewable Energy Industries, from Offshore Floating Wind, Solar, Hydrogen & Battery Power Generation.. My role has been to support the project Team as Technical advisor, assisting with writing the Technical specifications for the tender of the simulation software and then once the tender was awarded testing the software to ensure it had the required specification and Functionality, helping to train fellow staff members along with assisting development of lesson plans that run in conjunction with the City & Guilds Accredited Award programme. I am now combining my existing role with assisting in Tutoring and delivery of our foundation course material, sharing my knowledge and experience with Learners helping them visualise a potential future career in Process Operations in both the existing Energy Sectors and the Emerging Renewable Energy sectors.
