I practice in the areas of complex civil litigation and trial law in state and federal court, representing clients in contract and business disputes, and construction, intellectual property, trade secrets and employment matters. I also am a certified mediator, having been involved in well over 100 mediations in my career. I have tried dozens of cases in state and federal court and argued many times before state and federal appellate courts. I have been involved in lawsuits not only in Iowa, but all over the Midwest, California, Colorado, Texas, Virginia, Washington, D.C., Ohio, New York and New England. Prior to entering private practice, I was a federal prosecutor with the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C., where I prosecuted bank fraud and complex white collar crime as part of the Criminal Division's Fraud Section.I have an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale Hubbell, was named one of only 17 "Litigation Stars" in the State of Iowa by the prestigious Benchmark Litigation and was selected as a 2017 IP Star by Managing Intellectual Property magazine. I am a member of the Iowa Academy of Trial Lawyers, which is an invitation-only organization with a limited number of members, and was recently selected for Fellowship in the Litigation Counsel of America. I also have been recognized in Super Lawyers® for business litigation, Chambers USA® for litigation and Best Lawyers® for commercial litigation. I am admitted to practice in Iowa, the Iowa and Nebraska federal district courts, the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
