Education:• Researched, developed, and presented a 2 hour educational program on a creek restoration project to a summer camp of 12-24 K-5th graders, exploring the themes of species interdependence, restoration, watershed management, and collective action.• Delivered this program to a group of 18 interns before the start of the summer camp as part of the Intern Spotlight Series, the first program of the series in over 5 years.• Completed the Audience Centered Experience training, a National Park Service training consisting of workshops, exercises, and discussions over 5 days about how to engage the public in park interpretation.• Led curriculum-based programming for the park’s Into the Redwood Forest program, a 4th grade program centering on sensory exploration of redwood forests and how forest ecosystems can teach us about community.• Led curriculum-based programming for our high school program Forests for the Future, focused on how redwood forests adapt to changing climactic conditions and how we can be part of protecting our ecosystems.• Shadowed other programs at various sites within the larger park, such as Living with the Land, a sixth-grade program which engages students in participation with nature, allowing them to plant native plants and cultivate skills like birdwatching and nature observation.Interpretation:• Informed visitors about the park’s cultural and environmental history, species of interest, and conservation issues at the Orientation Station.• Delivers a 15 minute Ranger Talk to visitors about fire ecology, park history, and the interdependence of species within the redwood ecosystem.Outreach:• Conducts guided tours, interpretive walks, and workshops to educate the public about local ecosystems, wildlife, and conservation practices.• Collaborates with community partners, volunteers, and other stakeholders to organize special events, clean-up activities, and conservation projects.
