As a Management Consultant I oversaw the evaluation and operational implementation of new business lines, payment platforms, ISO 20022 migrations, and start-up banking business plans. ✯ Key engagements:✔ Supporting a First Nations project to establish an off-shore banking business. ✔ Supporting a Financial Institutions direct ACSS relationship with the BOC and Payments Canada including vendor analysis, negotiating contracts, and supporting system operational design.✔ Evaluating multiple start-up fintech’s for potential seed-round investment, while serving as strategic advisor to The Holt Xchange.

As a CEO, I spearheaded the transition of a legacy payment system to Canada’s first “As a Service” payments model including the following: ✔ Supported the evaluation of how best to modernize payment capabilities and secured buy-in from eight largest credit unions and three credit union central’s in Western Canada✔ Oversaw integration of two separately governed/managed business lines and operating budgets into a single Joint Venture (JV) structure.✔ Introduced rigorous change management process to meet internal (staff) and external (customers/owners/members) needs to accommodate varying levels of knowledge and implementation capabilities.✔ Oversaw the creation of board-level project reporting, ensuring delivery of appropriate project and financial oversight.✔ Hired team members and established a management oversight process to oversee the implementation of seven simultaneous enterprise-level IT projects (bill pay, EFT, cheques, wires, real-time rail, interac, safer payments fraud system).✔ Directed development of the JV Board structure and the establishment of the board’s terms of reference.

In this role, I directed a team of 70 members to drive operations across four business areas, including Payments Processing, Information Technology, Strategy and Communications. As a lead executive for Credit Union Payment Services (CUPS) business, I oversaw the payments & clearing business for all Alberta and Saskatchewan Credit Unions.✯ Some of the achievements are:✔ Maintained safety and security of $5B+ in annual credit union payment and settlement volume.✔ Facilitated creation of a robust, future-facing strategy to provide maximum visibility to board regarding challenges and opportunities facing the Credit Union sector. ✔ Implemented Payments Canada Modernization initiative by supporting the evaluation and analysis of the best possible way to optimize Credit Union owed payment assets (CUPS/CUCM processing business, Celero IT/platform hosting business and the Everlink acquiring business).✔ Acted as a representative on the Payments Canada Member Advisory Council (MAC); delivered guidance to government on the creation of the rules and business processes to achieve the payments, modernization mandate.✔ Oversaw risk and sound operation of all credit union settlement activities (APX $11B in volume) with a regular interface alongside Payments Canada (as a Member of the Credit Union Group Clearer oversight Board).

President, Chief Revenue Officer and Co-Founder Vice President, AFEX Global Payments (Jameson acquired by AFEX) Jameson Bank, Vice President ✯ My key achievements across organiztions are as follows:✔ Established ECHO through a management buyout of the business line from AFEX in 2017.✔ Managed sales, operations, implementation, finance, product, marketing, and IT functions by directing cross-functional team of 15 people. ✔ Negotiated processing arrangements with Visa and sponsor banks for the successful launch of foreign exchange-based prepaid card businesses across geographically dispersed locations. ✔ Accountable to develop Jamison Bank's first new line of business since inception to implement a payments business line with approval of Board and OSFI.

Jameson Bank was acquired by AFEX in 2014. Reporting to the CEO I was retained by AFEX to build out a global multi-currency prepaid program for their client base. I launched ECHO Payment Systems as a standalone business to deliver upon these objectives and subsequently negotiated the buy out of the business from AFEX.
