I am a Bachelor of Commerce student, currently in my fourth year at Dalhousie University. I am expected to graduate April 2025, with a Major in Finance and a Certificate in Financial Accounting. As a recent member of Emera Inc.'s Finance team, I had the privilege of contributing to a transformative project aimed at enhancing the digitalization of our financial software. Working closely with a Project Team, we continued the transition to a new financial reporting software, the Consolidation program OneStream, which is known for its versatile financial capabilities. In this role, I played a crucial part in ensuring data accuracy for financial reporting systems, utilizing tools such as Oracle EBS, HFM, OneStream, and Excel add-ins for comprehensive data validation. Taking on a leadership role, I conducted project meetings with Emera's international affiliates, fostering collaboration and effectively communicating project plans while providing guidance on the utilization of the new financial software. Additionally, my responsibilities included the review and archival of historical financial reports. This experience has not only honed my technical skills but has also strengthened my ability to navigate complex financial projects and collaborate across diverse teams.During my first wok term, I worked for the Province of Nova Scotia, where I was assisting the Finance team within the Department of Community Services. Working for the government has been an incredible experience, as it has provided me with exposure to different levels of governance. Throughout this co-op, I have had the opportunity to contribute by managing incoming payments, preparing financial documents for team members, and playing a role in launching a 'Financial Stabilization' program designed to support parents with children in temporary childcare. This program is the first of its kind in Canada, and we can expect other provinces to adopt similar initiatives in the future.Playing on the Dalhousie Lacrosse team these past 4 seasons has been a life changing experience. Sports have always taught me hard work and determination, so making the jump from High school to University was very exciting. The older players on the team were great mentors and have helped bring the team together to win a championship in each of my last 4 seasons.
